Because we work with what I call 'mad frogs' Christmas is always low key - not for us Jingle Bells in October. If we can make it a 5 day long affair we do otherwise no more than 10 school days..........sounds weird but we all have families to go home to:eek::DBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Hope you've having a great summer.
Missing festivals this year..v envious. But can't have everything and just didn't work out. Also have a new goal ( or is it an old one which has resurfaced?!;)) of being MF in 6 years so may need to do these as special treats rather than 'what we usually do every year' type events..MFiT-T4 Member No. 96 - 2022 is my MF goal

How was the festival? Hope all was great.
Can't believe that summer hols only have another 2 weeks or so to go....it's gone all too fastbut unbelievably I have just realised that my kids have almost 2 weeks off in October... Will now need to find something for them to do ( well there will inevitably be revision and project work for DD1 but the youngest will be pacing around saying she is bored if we are not careful...so some activities will have to be planned!)

The festival was hoot - definitely niche - and catered for a certain age..... cant be many festivals where most of crowd brings camping chairs :rotfl: have another to go to in couple of weeks:D DD2 also going too but is doing the whole camping thing ( a present for good exam results) I shall be there for 1 day only!Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Love it!! No worries about getting down the front then into the mosh pit
:rotfl:
My only issue with people setting up chairs is that if you are sitting on a blanket behind them then you can't see...
Sounds good. Have fun and what a great present...good shout.
Have a good day. More rain here today so changing plans from kayaking to walking...not sure that's a totally sensible plan tho!!Hope OF is Ok putting up her tent on Dartmoor...fear could be a tricky day

Morning Igamogam,
I like the sound of your staycation by yourself:) We had one of those too with some day trips out but kids have been around all of the time - not that it's a problem - more that I get frustrated about the digital stuff!
I'm not looking forward to getting back to the school run and the evenings drawing in:( though I guess it will give me time then to make a start on all the decorating the kids were meant to help me with.
Christmas?... Arrgh! Was in HobbyCrft yesterday and it was full of Christmas craft stuff. :rotfl:Just waiting for the uniforms to disappear from supermarkets and cards/wrapping to fill the shelves.

Its usually around about this time I find myself in some bucolic idyll, having returned from a trip away which was a good idea at the time but it was always the getting home that was the best bit,and trying to sum up/assess what I have achieved this year - I work in academic years so September is another New Year for me - and usually not being very happy with what conclusion I came too............this year however I feel very different about it all. Dont know why!! I didnt go away?? Possibly??
Anyway the late summer garden is in all its glory, bees busy, butterflies (infrequent visitors this year:() and dragonflies flitting about, the swallows are still flying high rather than gathering on the wires discussing the best route back to Africa and the cats have been stretched out on the warm slate flags all day and what has also stayed the same despite a lot of paying down is the debt..........and I am pretty  about it.I am enjoying the garden this time and thinking 'well the debt is no worse' rather beating myself up that I havent cleared it yet
When I say stayed the same it has obviously gone down but not as much as I had hoped - there have been a few large bills which has meant less money for debt busting, but every payment has been an over payment. I have pretty much stuck to the £70/week food and household stuff budget with only a few splurges. I have still not bought anything just because it was a bargain or we might need it or it might be useful. We have made some very large purchases however - new car and new CH system about 12 months before we thought we would but it will all be taken care of in a couple of months and I have finally got on top of the clutter and stuff which had become a bit of a barricade if truth be know..........and maybe this is the crux of it all. I am now out from behind the 'barricade' and feeling much better for it:D Long way to go still but now I am in control and with that control has come a certain amount of calm...........maybe the calm before the storm as there is a difficult academic year ahead, but I feel I can face it now;)
Bit of a ramble but it make sense to me!
I have no pearls of wisdom. No secondary LED LBMs. No nuggets of debt busting info and no real goal other than to keep going. Little by little I will get there................or I might win the lottery;)Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Morning Ig.
I'm totally with you regarding September being 'New year', I'm really looking forward to going back on Thursday, I'm looking forward to a new group of little people that need nurturing, my goodness how many of our future generations just need to be loved and told your not stupid and you can/will do it. I'm also thinking about the ones that left in the summer and how there going to cope with the whole new world of secondary school, gosh some of them couldn't cope with sitting in a new place in the classroom (sorry I'm rambling).
You have achieved loads this year and as you have already stated, your negative wealth has not increased, you have had some big expenses, but you got through it all, you have stuck to your goals, kept your grocery bill under control, kept the clutter under control, all of which are positive.
The calm is YOU feeling good and in control of your life, fingers crossed you have a good year.
