We have fruit juice like it was cordial too. An inch in the bottom of the glass, topped with water. Mostly we just drink water though.

That said, my pregnant taste buds aren't co-operating and I can down a whole 2litre bottle of dandilion and burdock after dinner. I normally hate fizzy drinks.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

This is where the 'myth' that pregnancy damages teeth comes from.

It's not the pregnancy, it's the odd cravings at wierd times of the day that does the damage!
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

I have really weak teeth so have only let DS have water or milk, I have had arguments with those places that have kids deals with those fruitshoot things, the meal deals that is with a drink. I wanted milk or water with the meal(and they are actually cheaper...but would they listen).
I also hate those restaurants that just have junk on the kids menu...I prefer to order a half order of the adult portion of good stuff.
Oh....I'm not going to lie to you......At the end of the day, when alls said and done......do you know what I mean.........TIDY

A word of warning to you all from someone who suffered as a result. The second teeth especially the molars that arrive at 5-6yrs are the most vunerable to decay from any sugars, hidden or otherwise.

Brush well as soon as they appear and if you have a history of tooth decay/poor enamel speak to your dentist about geting them 'sealed' (a coating to preent bacterial attack) as a preventative measure.
The best things in life are free.....or at least discounted!!!

i drank fizzy stuff while i was pregnant too, both times. never drink it normally.

the babe had a sip of a friend's coke today in brewers fayre  luckily he pulled a face and spat it out, then went back to his glass of iced water :D i think letting him try junk will take the air of mystery away while letting him work out for himself that it doesn't taste good.

MY 19 month old is obsessed with bottles like the fruitshoot ones that have the sports top on them.

I just fill them up with water or very watery cordial, then he is a happy bunny.:D

    This is very true Carmina.

Sugary stuff is very much an aquired taste.

If parents can stop very young kids aquiring that taste when they (the parent) have full control over what the nippers eat, then as the kids get older, they will be less likely to go for that stuff themselves.

Be aware that even very watery cordial has enough sugar in it to feed a bactria. (They don't eat much!)

This means that the same chemical process will be going on in the mouth as would have done had it been full strength.
