I am on holiday for a week, work the next 3 weeks then finish nice cushy job :( oh well, thanks to MSE I have saved enough to get by.

On the up side we have been accepted for the free solar panel scheme, which should give us enough free leccy for the daytime :j

this year I was able to grow quite a bit of food, next year I will be aiming for more.

congrats to those who did well in exams and pick yourself up vibes for those who were unhappy with the grades.

    Morning all

It was lovely walking into such a clean and tidy kitchen this morning after two days of solid cleaning.

Moving on to paperwork and the family room this morning. Trying to decide about doing a car boot sale on Sunday. This is the only weekend I can do one for 4 weeks, forcast is for a light shower about the time it opens.

Shelly you sound happy about your solar panels. Please check the contract carefully especially terms for if the panels need removing for roof maintenance or if in the future they are not required (ie by future owners of the house)

    Well said :T:T:T

All is fairly quiet on the home front. I went to IKEA yesterday to get the rest of the furniture for DS2's room so that needs to be assembled today. This afternoon we are going to look at a car for DD1 that's on EBAY. Her lift to work is leaving next Saturday so I'll be back to the 3.30am lift to work runs. It is a top priority to get her driving with her own transport.

I took advantage of the tip in the weekly email to buy our euros with the Travelex 1 hour sale. Very pleased with myself:D

Most interesting reading all the electric/gas chat. Mine are 130/165 so I dread to think what that will be when the planned 18% increases take effect:(. I know I should switch but one of them has 300 owing that I would have to find to leave so it's just not an option at the moment.

    seconded!

Have re-listed and listed and my ancient e-bay item which I'd forgotten I had has been bid up to over a tenner! (It's a very old box of matches - I have no recollection of ever buying it and it was in the loft!)

going to shower in a minute the get on with stuff- lots to pack and post. Their dad's at a wedding today so the Valliteens are having a lie-in!

Yes well said Dusty, there are a few more I could add to that list too

Greenbee I'm suspicious DP left his iMac on that week which he reckons doesn't use that much electricity on sleep mode, it makes a racket and it and he's always refused to plug an energy monitor into it ..... He now says it's lost. The other major zapper is 3 vivariums running heating and lighting, then a large pond filter/UV system. I've not tested these newer tanks as DP lost the energy monitor but there are 2 UV strip lights in each of the three, 2 have heat spot lamps (100w) 1 has a ceramic heater, thermostats and timers, automatic misting systems etc. This time I will check everything is off apart from those, the FF & the sky box (Recording things) before I do reads. Between 26th of January and 26th of June our average was 26 per day (we were away 10 days in that time) which is why I'm trying to watch more closely now.

Next jobs are to go get the reptiles food, fill dishwasher/start it, feed/water them, pack Ds1s trainers and pack the fridge stuff.... Then I think that's me done so I shall say bye for now :)
One day I might be more organised...........

    Me too!

I got up earlier only to spend two hours reading while everyone else was still asleep. :o Enjoyed it, though.

The LR looks lots better, but I've still got some decluttering to do and I'll have to start cleaning today. Finishing stuff is not my strength. I'm much better at starting things...

Going hunting for the list now to add to it.

fly - WIP, started and continued
    research home insurance
    find the missing library book
    DVLA form
form regarding permissible work for OH
    call at charity shop
laundry (1 out, 1 washing, 1 more waiting)
    [STRIKE]DW[/STRIKE]
    set up diary/calendar
    tidy wardrobe
    de-flea cat
    school to-do list
    Mr M's
[STRIKE]send OH into town with DS2 and list[/STRIKE]
do something about the parking fine

    Same here :o

Today I need to have half an hour of emergency cleaning (visitor at lunchtime) and then I have agreed to help DH clear the garage. My job is to be ruthless. I can do that!

Lil_me - what the iMac uses when in sleep mode depends on whether he outs the hard drive to sleep too, but you can actually work it out doing some maths... However, it will pale into insignificance compared to the vivariums I'm afraid :(

I'm showered, the bathroom is clean, i've had breakfast (scrambled egg with spring onion, peppers and parsley on toast) so need to get the kitchen cleared up for baking (first batch for my nephew's birthday cake) and also get on with clearing the study so I can work in there next week...
