No flying this morning as out with DD for her to have some playtime.
However I have managed to put together the guinea pig run that I got off freegle ... and the screws were rusty. I was so happy I shouted out 'I don't need a man I have a cordless screw driver' to which my NN (a man) laughed and shouted out 'Aren't you the lucky one!':o
Managed to empty DW and refill. Done one load in the WM and just need to hang up. Football stuff so should dry quickly, (I hope!) as they are needed tomorrow. Have dyson'd downstairs and the stairs.
All the laundry was put away last night whilst DD was in the bath, I find that this is the best time for me.
Given up the wine today ... and already grumpy!!Football Widow :footie:
Why are frogs so happy? They eat whatever bugs them!0 -
Hi all,
I have the keys to the new house :j:j:j, met our new next door neighbour who seems lovely. The boys like the house and didn't mention the size of the bedrooms.I didn't think there was a washing line but there is one of those high pulley ones. :j there's also 2 sheds one of which has a cat flap in don't know what that's about.
The van is booked for the morning, i just need to finish packing now.
I need to pack the rest of my room and the downstairs stuff i haven't packed yet. I feel like i'm getting there slowly.
I'm off to wash up now and finish packing my room.0 -
Thanks Greenbee for that advice, but its 5 hours for the heating and 5 hours for the hot water in total over that period so im thinking !!!! at the winter bills. I do work for one of the big 6 suppliers in the call centres so like to think im pretty clued up on the energy efficiency side of things, but thats just :eek::eek::eek: considering i have an electric shower and an electric cooker and hob.
Im getting the boiler serviced next week and will be getting a wall thermostate put in as there are only radiator controls at the moment and i prefer the wall control system where it cuts out when it gets to a certain temperature. we have a gas back boiler in the back of the fire and i think we might be needing a new boiler which is going to have to wait for next year as cant justify that cost at the moment.
Ive changed supplier as well and like to think i know how to get the best deal, but at the moment, it seems like its going to be an expensive winter even with all the winter prep im doing (have curtains for almost all the windows in the house and the loft is fully insulated and we have cavity wall insulation).0 -
Decluttered potato plants from veggie beds due to onset of Blight. Have a whole basket of beautiful new potatoes that will be eaten within the next few [STRIKE]hours[/STRIKE] days.
Oh and a large expanse of veggie bed awaiting more organic matter.
Minion departed with KH a short time ago and DD1 yet again failed to appear when she said she would. Oh well. No surprise there, but would have been nice to not wait in all day for her, as I could have gone to the garden centre today.
Going to burn the blighted leaves later tonight, but until then, I suppose I shall have to sit down and drink coffee before getting sandwiches ready for fishing tomorrow. Oh, and find my sunblock (freckles and green eyes = medium to well done by about 10.30 am) before I doze off by the lakeside tomorrow.
It's a hard life.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

The hotspot that is the second chair in the LR is now clutter free! :j
Leaves the fire place, book case and a smallish area of floor! I will finish decluttering the LR today - and I've also found something quick for tea in the freezer.
Seafarer's - that bill doesn't sound right, but I'm sure you've done the Maths. Could someone at work have a look?0 -
Mrs C the bill is right unfortunatly, the meter reads and everything tally with the dates so its got to be paid. its just a bit of a shock as in my last house i only used £40 of gas and electric a month on average even with having the heating on pretty much constant in the winter, so i wont be doing that here thats for sure!
Im just going to up my DD to ensure that i dont go into debt with them as it doesnt look like £50 a month for gas is going to be reasonable here and i thought that was good estimate based on my old house :rotfl:0 -
Anyways, I shall need all my spoons later, for Ted's bath; I hope it goes as smoothly as it did last time! It's unusual to have to bath a dog so frequently, but it's on vet's orders, and his owners have requested that we do it so that his skin problems stay at bay.:o
Hmmm. Oz is on once a day at the moment. Definitely a 2 person job. Good luck.GC Mar 13 £47.36/£1500
