OH came back very quickly from town and looking absolutely shattered, despite his lie-in this morning. Will check if he's eaten today and force feed toast if necessary.

NN's son is going to e-bay more stuff for me (for a share of the so far minute profit) and I have toys for my friend's grandchildren in the boot. Another corner of the LR is tidy and just needs hoovering. Floor or chair next!

    Not heard from freegle yet.

just back from taking DD1 to see Super 8 at the cinema.

We loved it! And i'm now blasting ELO out of the speakers cos it was on the soundtrack!

I can barely keep my eyes open due to lack of sleep ( KIDS!!!!) - will start to think about tea soon - chicken pie for 3 and left over slimming world chilli for me! (YUM!)

DD2 is back tomorrow from her week away - we have managed to eat the things she doesn't like/positively hates whilst she has been away - and we've enjoyed it! I have especially enjoyed eating food i know she doesn't like and not having to provide/cook something different!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • im doing some gentle fluttering in the spare room sorting out a few bits.

main thing on my list at the moment is updating my gas and electric spreadsheet to keep track of costs as think im going to be in for an expensive winter. just had gas bill from edf for 48 days and its cost £37.56 which considering ive not had the heating on or the hot water on apart from max 5 hours each over that time period is excessive!

Seafarers - is that 5 hours a day for the hot water, or 5 a week? If it is the former, try cutting it down to 30 minutes morning and evening, and then if that isn't enough work up to the right amount. Also check the thermostat on the tank to make sure you aren't heating it too hot... And that it is actually cutting out when it is hot enough.

Do you have a shower or a bath? If a bath, try having shallower/fewer baths (back to strip washing...). If a shower, is it a power shower and can you get it disconnected from the pump if your water pressure is reasonable. Obviously check whether there are any better tariffs to be on (e.g. Are you paying monthly by DD for an online tariff), but think about what you use the hot water for. If you use it for washing up, make sure there is enough to justify a sinkful before you bother, and don't rinse under running hot water. If you have a hot water cylinder rather than a combi, then the further a tap is from the tank, the bigger the cooling effect will be of turning on that tap. Also make sure you insulate the tank well (although to be fair, it does heat the house and if you have an airing cupboard, keeps that warm!). And lag any pipes you can get to... Have a look at some of the gas/electric boards, the green & ethical and the preparing for winter threads on OS for ideas about how to make your house more energy efficient.

Stuffed peppers in the slow cooker, and a huge vat of pasta sauce with tofu and red lentils made for the freezer. I have now run out of excuses not to go for a walk...

Thanks for that greenbee. Our hot water is on for too long each day.....

I haven't stopped all day but I haven't done everything I intended to. I am in the middle of doing the bathroom, but had to have a sit down cos my back is aching. Dont know why? Old age probably.
I have managed to dry 2 loads of washing on the line which is the first time in ages - nice day Dawning :j
I have cancelled my old car insurance policy, but haven't got a new one yet. I thought it would take half an hour but it never does. i also thought it would be cheaper than the old car, but it isn't. All i can think is that premiums must have gone up a lot. It's a much lower insurance class this new car. AND I will have a special birthday during the insurance year so i though it would go down because of that?
Anyway, enough of my wittering - back to the bathroom :o

I just received my new calendar/diary order from 'organised mum'. :T That's really good, considering I only phoned them on Wednesday morning.

At least it gives me time to set both up before I'm back at work.

    1. Clean out any pongy pets Ted is scheduled for his twice-weekly bath tonight!
    2. dust the light fittings/curtain poles etc Done
Doesn't look like much done, but I'm exhausted!:( Have also had games with Ted outside, as it's been better weather today. He's currently stretched out on the sofa, spark out!:D

Fortunately dins tonight is the 2nd half of the meal I made yesterday - veggie mince with onions, peas and carrots in, like for Shepherd Spy, but with sliced potatoes on top, and a cheese sauce poured over and Parmesan sprinkled on top. Unsure if this dish has a proper name!:rotfl:

Anyways, I shall need all my spoons later, for Ted's bath; I hope it goes as smoothly as it did last time! It's unusual to have to bath a dog so frequently, but it's on vet's orders, and his owners have requested that we do it so that his skin problems stay at bay.:o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
