many thanks!
Extra hugs to Valli and DS......
I find kids exams really hard - esp when they don't go to plan! Is clearing a possibility or is he going to have to devise a cunning plan?:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
I have done some flying!! :j
I have washed up the pots, put on the DW, wiped down the hob (when it EVENTUALLY cooled down - we have gas at home!!), put a new bin liner in the bin that DH emptied, swept the kitchen, wiped the kitchen surfaces and (wait for it!) wiped the oven  I am SO getting mine cleaned when I get home! It is so easy when it is clean to start with
(I think I was getting withdrawal symptoms)
DH & kids were playing tennis while I did the above
Valli - this happened with DD1 last year - only we (DH, DD2, DS & me) were on holiday, and she was at home  (didn't realise when I booked) I am such a terrible mother! She was in floods of tears on the phone (just - the signal was really bad). She didn't have back up, but managed to get into Uni (not one we had even looked at) and wouldn't change it now
Phoned me later with the good news. We are at home for DD2's results next week!

Going to indulge in a very large whisky and have a game with Ted.;)If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -

Valli I hope in a few days a plan can be hatched and things got back on track - was it AS?
Toots and LL sending you both love
Need to set the WM and wipe the side and then bed for me.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
just so you know (Yes Dusty AS)
this is first year 6th form he has flunked. Of the 5 A levels he's taking he has U's in 3 and lower than expected in the other 2. In other words he hasn't worked hard enough/hasn't aquired the skill of answering questions...
so they won't let him progress to y13 - as he has too many retakes.
his options are to retake the year
leave and go to college
leave and get a job
I asked him what his next step would have been ; he stil wants Uni (this from someone - me -who dropped out of 6th form but went back eventually bear in mind;)) Not ALL the pupils who've had bad results are being even OFFERED the opportunity to retake the year...
so
we have seen the 6th form tutor (who gave me the answers I wanted) and she said how he would be supported/monitored if he retook the year. I don't want him to go to college (sorry Cally!) as I beleive the school structure more suited to his temperament. I haven't told him this, just asked him to focus on his future ambititon (uni) and think how he's going to get there.
He has said 'I'll have to do it (Y12) again' - so we'll see.
And JUST to add to the pressure DD wanted to go to Thorpe Park but has said she'd rather have the -has to be paid for by someone- dental work done - so that's a grand to find...I've *almost* run out of stuff to ebay..
still - at least I'm not dealing with what J's mum & dad are dealing with (brain tumour) though, at the moment, THAT seems positive (she's had good news). Or Toots - or CY's daughter or Lady Liberty....
I should - on some level - be flattered, as DD 'doesn't feel she can ask her dad to help out with the dental costs' but can ask me. What I want to know is !!!!!! did he do with the £30K divorce settlement - because he didn't put a deposit down on the house he told the judge he 'needed'...wait...new car; foreign holiday...Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

House is tidy - been out all day. Not a single flap necessary

Haven't heard a bean from DD1 about her A level results. This is not surprising. What would be surprising is if she passed one, having only been allowed to take one as she failed all but one AS last year due to not turning up or bothering to do the work. Last thing I heard from her was that college was fine and she was going to either stay on there or transfer to another college easier to get to [STRIKE]the boyfriend's house from when she is supposed to be there[/STRIKE].
Mind you, she didn't realise that I had access to her disclipinary record from college online until recently. So I know they refused point blank to waste their money and damage their results by having her not turning up for another year. Never mind, she might get around to [STRIKE]lying[/STRIKE] telling me how fantastically well she has done this year at some point. Probably just before she asks for money again.

Survived the duty visit.
And came back to find a very soggy cat sitting in the veggie patch, who had apparently found a friend baking in a kitchen nearby when he got locked out this morning as he legged it when I left just before 9am (he likes children, people with long, scratchy fingernails and biscuits), as he absolutely ponged of cinnamon
**************
Then there was a pounding on the door and I found the ex BIL shouting and swearing that my ex was hiding in here and he needed to come out so they could 'have it out once and or all', whatever IT was.
Having just had the riots round here, to have this drunken buffoon turn up and try and scare me with Minion here just wasn't going to happen. He tried to force his way in twice - the second time I deposited him on his drunken backside. Had there been a third attempt, he would have found out I still haven't got rid of all my anti rioter paraphernalia from behind the front door.
Ex turned up at this point, having been sent a garbled message that made him realise trouble was brewing and BIL left the front garden quicker than he arrived.
Seems that BIL had the strop because ex isn't willing to go to a [STRIKE]night of people getting drunk on beer, smoking drugs and finishing off with a punchup or five[/STRIKE] party at his sister's house. And the solution was to scream and shout and threaten violence until ex agreed to go and pretend to be his bestest fwend and bruvver in the world ever becos they're FAAAAAMMMMMILLLEEEEEEEE, Innit?
Or in other words, he was drunk and looking for a way to continue an argument he had probably already started at home with Ex's sister. I daresay the story she gets is that the big, bad Jo went for him when all he wanted to do was say how much he missed his special fwend. Who has always hated him and made no secret about it, btw.
I really don't approve of this scrapping-in-the-street-nonsense.
But a year of playing bass has given me more upper body strength than I ever thought possible. And a whole lot more attitude - so stuff trying to talk him down, he got dumped on his behind for trying to scare me with violence.
Anyway, the ex is sitting downstairs on drunken-violent-Narcissist-vigil and I am still fuming upstairs (with a locked bedroom door and enough heavy stuff to knock anyone out, btw). He can lose sleep over it, I have no intention of doing so.
But I have damaged my thumb somehow in the fracas, so I am hoping it is better by tomorrow morning.
Remind me again, what exactly is it that men are for?
**********
Tomorrow's plan -
School Uniform buying at outfitter's. Trousers, PE top.
School uniform at sports shop. Shorts, trackies, footie socks.
Purchase of basketball for Minion, white trainers for school and a baseball bat or indoor hockey stick
Putting away of new purchases.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -
Oh dear, Jojo, I hope it all calmed down and you managed to get some sleep.
Valli, hopefully this will be the 'wake-up call' he needs. It sounds hopeful that the school will take him for a repeat year, particularly if they are not offering it to all those who did badly. They must believe that he is capable of doing better.0
