Only 3 weeks to go and still got a lot of work to do on Kezia's Humphreys Corner birth sampler. On the plus side, all the bags are done for everyone else and I'm really pleased with them. Really must try to find more time for the stitching in the next 3 weeks though. Maybe another day off is called for ;-)Cross Stitch Challenge member 11 - May challenge well under way

Just a thought, is there a craft group near u that might benefit? Near me the church has a group, and Mind charity do craft counseling sessions, or maybe even local hospital or hospice? OR put them on Freegal / Freecycle? OR maybe someone with only a little stash on here would like to pay postage?
Can u tell I'm a hoarder? I'd hate them to be wasted!Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
OMG look what I've bought here
It was that craft show that gave me the idea. I reckon if I do one of the small pics every year, with a year or two for the outline, I might be done by the time I'm 63!!!Challenge savings 2010-2016 £1564.60:j

No cross stitch done today (yet). Have had a snooze on the sofa with the cat
and not done much else really. One of those days when there is lots to be done but I can't be faffed to do any of it!
I've bitten the bullet and ordered a new subscription to Cross Stitch Card Shop. I went for the 3 for £3 deal then £10.49 per quarter after that. Seemed like the best deal really. My subscription has run out and I'm keen not to miss a mag so decided to just subscribe again (lasts years sub was a gift). The two subscription gifts didn't appeal and really 3 mags for £3 is a saving of £12 so not bad ?
My subscription to Cross Stitch Crazy has just renewed but I'm got bored of that mag so intend to cancel that soon and I'm seriously contemplating canceling Cross Stitcher. There has been nothing that has appealed recently and its a waste of money if I'm only skimming through the magazine before adding it to the pile never to see the light of day again. Its a real shame because it used to the best cross stitch mag available.0 -
Hi Everyone,
Still stitching my sister's stocking in between chemo - have now personalized it and just finishing the last bit of cross stitch at the very top of the design and then have to do the backstitch and assemble it. I've got chemo again hopefully on Thursday depending on my blood tests on Wednesday so I'm hoping to finish stitching it by Wednesday night (not sure if that's realistic or not - but will give it my best shot). I will post a picture of it soon - in the meantime I thought I show you the stockings that I made for my Husband, my Son and myself.

Tracey your stocking look great. Did you use a sewing machine to connect the backing to the adia or did you just sew it together. I am three quarters of the way through my santa stocking. Will have to put some pictures on when I get five minutes and work out how to do it. Observer that looks a very detailed. It will look lovely when finished.cross stitch cafe #90 UFO's 6 to finish in 2013, and loads of new kits to boot

Hi Ladies,
Just wanted to say how fab all of your creations are. I have just picked up my needle this week to start cross stitching. I brought and magazine and have started on the freebie but I'm not sure I am doing it right! I'm ok with the stitches it's reading the chart and I have thread everywhere! Is there a right and wrong way to tackle the chart eg should I stitch all the same colour 1st or work each square???? What sort of equipment make sthings easier I am struggling with the light, do you need a frame for small pieces of work? how do you sort out your thread without having it everywhere lol. Sorry for all the questions0 -

Thanks Catwoman - I used a sewing machine to assemble it and then handstitched the ribbon to the edge, I also line the inside of the stocking to protect the stitching - it's a bit fiddlely but I think that doing it with a sewing machine makes the joining up more secure. When I first made a stocking, I didn't use a sewing machine to assemble it - then had to repair it after a couple of uses (it was a gift for one of my nephews), and the lining to protect the stitching I've only done on my most recent stockings, but it's certainly worth doing.Always be yourself, unless you can be a Unicorn - then always be a Unicorn !
