Just been catching up with all your posts - sadly still no stitching done here - or any other crafting for that matter - other than going to a card making demo' on Saturday, which I'm guessing doesn't count!
Tracey - I love all the stockings - I know I have a couple of them in my stash - if I start now I guess we could have one each for next Christmas.
Kelly Lou - I find the centre of my fabric and then sew with ordinary cotton in a bright colour for about four inches up and down so that I can continue to see where the centre is.
Also personally, for cross stitch I never use a frame, I just sort of roll the spare fabric into a tube like shape and hold it in my left hand. I only use a frame for canvas/wool.
Willow - I got my map - Somerset, from Heritage Crafts - they're by Sue Ryder, I think and I'm guessing there is one for every county.0 -
Welcome Kelly-Lou - its sounds as though you have been bitten by the 'stitchy bug'
. Look forward to seeing your pics.
Love your stockings Tracey - perhaps I should re-phrase that - it sounds a bit strange but I think you know what I mean.Fingers crossed for Thurs - hope all goes well for you.
Thinking about ordering one of the cross stitch card mags if I can get a cheap subscription. What do people think - any preferences anyone?????
Not much on the stitching front from me i'm afraid. Just finishing off the cross stitch xmas decorations but just need to put them together.
Take care everyone

'Lo all
Been busy here, haven't picked up my stitching for a week, was working away for the weekend and been bust all week - should have Friday evening free though so have plans to cuddle up with a snuggly throw and watch tv all night!
Off on a *whispers quietly and checks Martin isn't watching* shopping spree in Glasgow tomorrow with my mum, aunt and sister. It's a yearly thing, kicks off the festive spirit for us all
Just remembered....planning on putting the tree and decs up on Fri night, so it will be Sunday before I get my stitching evening. :jCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. hi everyone, and welcome to kelly lou!
still no stitching here, and still pins and needles at night but not so bad. actually i have managed a couple of good nights sleep this week, which is brilliant. (horlics + baileys + thermal vest under my fleecy pjs + hot water bottle + hot wheat/lavender thing* + OH on strict orders not to put his frozen feet anywhere near me!):rotfl:
i had blood tests today to see what might be wrong, got a few things out of sorts, so might come to a conclusion about my fingers too. i would say fingers crossed, but well...
ooh! i have framed my 'Noel The Christmas Robin' sampler from last christmas! :j woo! i found a nice green and gold frame in a charity shop and used the leftover red card from framing the Dr Who... i'm really pleased with it. i'll have to post a photo (sorry for lack of photos, i'm not sure what i've done with my camera).
keep warm everyone x

Hi all.
I'm feeling a bit mean today, but I thought you would all like to know what I said in case you get the same questions in the future.
A lovely chap called me today because my Cross Stitcher subscription is due to run out just after Christmas and obviously they would like me to renew.
I told him that I wouldn't and if he wanted to pass back some 'constructive critisism' then I felt it was barely relevent to a cross stitcher anymore, the projects were pretty boring and there was too much focus on buttons and sewing that most Cross Stitchers aren't particularly interested in. Then just to make sure my point had been fully driven home I told him that I was now subscribing to World of Cross Stitch as that was much more suited to my needs.
I know it was ages ago we all started moaning about it but I thought some of you might be interested in what I said.

I would recommend the World of Cross Stitching or Cross Stitch Card Shop. (or both!!) :rotfl:I have just ordered myself a subscription to Cross Stitch Card Shop and the offer I went for was 3 for £3.:T The usual price of the magazine is £4.99 per mag.
I saw lots of different offers with varying prices and couldn't make up my mind but I wasn't keen on the free gift and my brain got confused trying to remember what was the best price I had seen so I just decided to go for it (because my previous subscription had run out (gift) and I didn't want to miss an issue so I took up the 3 for £3 deal.
I would expect there to be a 5 for £5 offer on WOCS lurking somewhere on the web (especially as its xmas). I subscribe to this mag already and its fab! the best all round cross stitch mag on the market in my opinion!
There are some good offers for mag subs but you have to decide whether you want the cheapest price or a free gift. Usually the sub price for a free gift sub is slightly more, I suppose because the free gift isn't really free and the biggest saving is only really achieved when you sign up by direct debit - I suppose because its easy for them to keep taking payment.
In other news, I'm frustrated/annoyed because I checked the tracking info for one of my (christmas present) parcels this evening only to find that they attempted delivery at 7pm this evening at my office! Being the dutiful employee I am, I was already home:rotfl: so its gone back to the delivery depot. Hmmm. Did my last xmas order from Amzon yesterday and hoping there that is sent via royal mail rather than courier although its toys so I doubt it.
In other news have you checked out this ??!!!!0 -
Many thanks for your comments Flat Eric re the mag subs. DS asked me if there was anything I would like for xmas (bearing in mind his funds are less than zero) :rotfl:. I told him I would appreciate one of the mag subs (5 for £5 type of thing) but I was told that it wasn't a 'proper' present. Think I might do WOXS and the card shop one - what extravagance - especially at this time of the year.
. Parcel deliveries can be soooo frustrating - hope you get sorted soon.
Enjoy your shopping trip Louise.
Hope they sort things out for you soon 23rd and you're feeling well for the forthcoming festivities.

I can't wait till xmas as my dad is treating me to a light and a few cross stitch books. Where is the best place to buy threads etc?0
