Can't remember he rname but she had the very first exhibition space as you walked in the first main hall. She was a lovely grey haired old lady who makes fabulous huge embroideries and I said jokingly blimey I can't even do a french knot and she said come back with thread, needle and cotton and I will teach you - and she did (I think)
It was Diana Springall - just googled her from the tickets website
"Diana Springall is amongst the most well-known of all British textile artists. Her work is found in many private and public collections, including the Embroiderers’ Guild and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
In a career spanning over fifty years, she has devoted more than half to full-time teaching and lecturing.
She was for many years a panel lecturer at the Victoria and Albert Museum, is a former chairman of both The Embroiderers’ Guild and The Society of Designer Craftsmen and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
She has written six books on Embroidery" - feel slightly stupid that she was teaching me to do french knots now!Mortgage £119,533 going down slowly
Emergency fund £1000/£1000
Savings for big things £90170 -
Sometimes, the only way to learn is to have someone show you
Post a video on you-tube for us all to learn now!!!!
Glad you both had a good time....!!0 -
Well still no stitching done this end and anyway my fingers, and the rest of me are freezing this morning.
I had a marathon session loading the cross stitch charts and some other crafty stuff I dug out last evening, as it was a free listing weekend and eventually managed to watch the Strictly results show about 9.30.0 -

thanks for the info dora, i'll look her up, sounds really interesting. i wouldnt worry about having someone 'famous' teach you... she wouldnt have offered if she didnt mean it, and by the sounds of it, she's made a career of teaching ect so that's just what she does.

hi, yes all is well, just one of those days when the weekend isn't long enough and work and too much to do, too little time = grumpy flat eric
oh and the news is always so depressing (in particular news widely reported yesterday)
counting down to xmas now - nice break from work - plenty of time to relax and stitch :j
I think I am going to talk to my doctor and get him to prescribe me stitching time :rotfl:
ps what is everyone getting for xmas ???? I'm naughty - if I see something I want, I buy it so come xmas and the like - I never know what to ask for ????0 -

ahhh I feel like that come Tuesday's. I think I managed 10 stitches last night!
I avoid the news as much as possible - anything important comethrough on my phone app as a newsflash.
Santa is USELESS in my house. He buys hubby and the boys lovely things but if mummy wants anything she has to write a list in triplicate and only gets what she has written on it! - no surprises! so stuff it. this year he has bought me a coat (which hubby actually chose himself **shock horrorr**).
In my stocking I shall be getting the new chelsea cain book (I say new it was out at the beginning of the year), the new discworld book, some choccy coins and I may just send him for something stitchy too).:rotfl:loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0
