Grrr mse won't let me quote tonight for some reason. We are going to Harrogate for both days and staying over in a hotel - not very mse but have saved up for it. Also signed up for a couple of workshops this year, making a patchwork bag and a Christmas bauble so looking forward to those.....and some spending;) PM if you fancy meeting for a brew and we can swap mobile numbers - I'm very good with m-i-l's and extremely good with Grannies:p
I have a question that is indirectly related to xstitch- my club rents a room from the local council for £6 an hour. They have decided to put it up to £15 an hour:eek: and apparently these charges were effective from April but we were not told. We have been paying our rent and they now want to charge us back rent for the month of October but only notified us in writing 2 weeks ago- can they legally do this?
So the money from the group funds which was paying for the bus is being held back in case we have to pay so 2 of us are driving to Harrogate now and 3 people have dropped out so my 20 group tickets are far from being sold! We needed 12 tickets and now only need 9 so I may sell a ticket on the door so I have sold 10 and can get my money back on the other 10 - thank god I have only paid a deposit and the 3 women are happy not to get their money back if I can't! Quel desastre!
I have about 3 rows left of a Christmas present scarf left to finish then I am going to do a bit of my Spirit of Christmas:DCross Stitch Challenge Member ?Number 2013 challenge = to complete rest of millenium sampler.0 -
ohh dear Thifty - have you got a forum you could advertise the tickets on?? I'm sure they can charge back rent but it seems a bit mean. I woulda come join you but a) have the kids, b) it'd take 2 and a half hours on the train, c) it's cost me £50 train fare.
I've been bad and just lurking not picked up a needle in AGESS. Got troutbeck out to do tonight but can barley keep my eyes open. Had all intentions of an early night (tinywiggle has got a really bad chest and just is NOT sleeping!! Have found I get 3h more sleep a night by letting him sleep in our room in his bouncer then in his bed) but hubby put Arthur on (the new Russell Brand one) and it's sooo funny!!loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Thanks for the suggestions Ruth and Kmmr. I do like the Mr Men abc chart and am putting it on my wish list to do at some point. I have decided to go with the nursery rhymes using the pictures that came with the pack. i have changed the design and am going to stitch the nursery rhyme lyrics on some of the blocks. Not sure how that will turn out being a novice stitcher!
Not sure if im reading the instructions right but it says x stitch 6 stands, backstitch 3 strands - that seems a bit excessive? Still im going to start it today and see how i get on.
Have a good day everyone xDD born 14/12/11

Well I went to the Harrogate show today. It was massive, i didn't realise how much was there. Although there were CS stands there weren't as many as I'd hoped and I only bought a few little bits like needles and one tiny kit. But I'm glad I went. It was really busy today so I dread to think what the weekend will be like! But I hope that everyone going enjoys it
Then I went to Betty's for dinner (had to be done, I live a few hours away so don't get to go often) and then did a little bit of shopping in town. So all in all a good day and I didn't think about work once - always a bonus!

Helllloooo everyone - by you lot have been quiet this week - has everyone taken the vow of silence :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Just got back from a few days away in the lovely city of York, thoroughly enjoyed it (always do), got most of the xmas shopping done, some treats for me (of the non-stitchy kind) but XStitch Crazy was waiting for me at home :j.
My stitchy update - got a couple of the fitness coasters to make up for pressies (loads in the new xstitch crazy mag - typical eh chicky) then I can't decide what to do
Love czar and the snooker table nmm :T
Touched by Magic is taking shape Louise. Make sure you make the most of those cuddles.
Thoughts are with you sweetcarer and hope things improve for you both soon.
Wow - that's some list you've got there debtdalek.
Lovely that you had a nice time in Harrogate Observer. Oooooooohhh we did Bettys in York yesterday - had a lovely spiced hot chocolate and did the whole posing thing of sitting in the window and watching the world go by. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Hope everyone who goes to Harrogate has a lovely time and manages to treat themselves even to just a wee bit of something.
Not too long to wait now Emily although I suppose the time will be dragging for you. Hope everything goes well for you all.
Anyone in need of the hug there are some virtual ones on the way.
Take care everyone

Evening ladies
I have had a lovely evening, I popped in to see a friends new baby, she is gorgeousand I got a lovely long cuddle
which made my day!
I can't believe how fast babies grow, DS will be 2 on the 3rd. Feels like the world has fast forward by 2 years!
Not having the best of weeks, had prolems with DH's JSA, as in they stopped paying it to him without notifying him. He didn't realise till a direct debit payment bounced . Absolutely fuming, he has been in to the job centre every week for the last 2 months (at their request) and done everything he is supposed to. Turns out they "forgot" to fill in the paper work when they were due to. We now have to reapply.
On top of that I rang to say I am on half pay sick leave (as awaiting 2 ops and still in pain and having rubbish symptoms) and they said I am classed as unemployed?! Why?! Work are still happy to keep my job open, and pay me.
I really can't fathom out benefits. Fingers crossed DH gets one of the hundred jobs he has applied for! And that I am well soon and able to go back.
I actually miss work believe it or not. I was always rushed off my feet, having a loo break was referred to as "a treat" :rotfl:and my feet ached so bad, but I would give anything to be back there with my buddies achiving the impossible every day.
Sorry, slightly off topic there lol.
Back to sewing. I have managed some stitchy time, but fear I could do with a few more weeks of non stop stitching. It may be next christmas at this rate :rotfl:. (Although it was worth sacrifising a few stitchy hours to cuddle a very sleepy little cherub). Right best get back to it lol

Not happy
Really wanted to do a Disney Princess pic after seeing one on here (I forget who posted it) so bought a chart from ebay
This is what the original design was:
And this is how it's looking. I had my doubts before I was halfway up the dress but decided to continue to the face and see how it looked then
Truthfully...how awful is that??? You need to be 10 feet away and squinting really hard to make out it's meant to be Cinderella
I'm binning it - waste of time and threads:mad::(Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Have to admit it's not looking very clear Louise....is there any backstitching to do to clarify the edges. or is that it? So annoying when that happens.
Hope you can find something else to stitch that will calm you down.
Still no stitching ! It's not that I have lost my mojo, but I have so many things to make and I'm a bit slow with the XS, so knitting and sewing things instead. Also, not sure if I could concentrate and focus on stitching atm, recovering from my op and improving daily, but stomach still rather tender, so no bending forward or resting anything on it atm!!!
Hope today improves for you Louise xxx
