I'm another person who has been MIA....currently making a bookmark but not sure how to back it to cover up the stitching, any ideas?

Will post a couple of pics later of my latest makes :)

Have you not got any extra aida that you can turn over to cover the stitches at the back or have you thought of laminating it (if you have one that is )

    Hi
You could cut a piece of felt as someone has suggested for backing the bookmark but instead of doing tiny stitches to attach it as I have done before I would now use Bondaweb and stick the felt and aida together. I am addicted to bondaweb I think lol!

    Evening all,
had a slightly stitchy day today, in and amognst my crafty bits. I thought it would be a fabulous idea to do hand painted gifts for the in laws, till the pottery paint dried very patchy  and has needed 4 coats (some of which have run :( ). They are still a work in progress, 2 weeks on!
I also had another fabulous idea to hand paint little gift tags for DS's birthday (train ones - which could make nice tree decs ;)) party bags. I decided to fill cello cones with sweeties, and attatch the little tags, and a handmade bracelet with each childs name on. It is such a good job we are only inviting his cousins, couldn't have coped with more to make!
So very little time for stitching right now lol.

Oh and I decided to stitch nemo on to a t-shirt for my DS :D, started well, only to descover I don't have enough thread to finish it!
Serves me right for procrastonating and not doing "on the beach" :rotfl:

    Oh well!
I will get pics taken of my progress tomorrow and upload, I promise!
Ps Blue Eyed Girl, love the santa card, thanks for the link too :)

This is what I have made....

I've also made this Christmas tree decoration using a pattern from last months Cross Stitcher Magazine, I just wish I had used red thread to attach the aida to the felt but oh well, lesson learnt!

I've started to do the same with the reindeer design

ALthough I am not a member of the cross stitch cafe, I would be grateful if any of you could help me please.

Sadly, I lost my Dad last week and I would love to stitch something in his memory. A lot of the Dad or Father based stitch items on ebay seem americanised and I am struggling to find anything on a UK website.

I hope someone can help me in my quest.

    Regards

    Hi Emma,

Firstly - very sorry to hear about your Dad, I am sure its a very hard time.

To find the right thing, can you give a bit more guidance on what you are thinking of. Perhaps a link to the american ones so we can get a feel for what you want. Is this something for you to remember him, or something to give to someone else? And do you want a formal (religious?) theme, or perhaps something that reminds you of him. Perhaps something around what he liked? So, golf or fishing or whatever, which could be used to make a nice design where you can personalise it with your own words. Happy to search around as I know it's sometimes hard to find just what you want.

Hello Emma, welcome to the cafe. Pick up a cuppa or your needle and ta da, you've joined.

I'm sorry for your loss, I hope we can help find you something appropriate.

Sorry to ask more questions, but on top of what Kmmr asks, are u a competent stitcher or a beginner (just because of fractionals, French knots ect), and roughly how large are u thinking? Card size? A4 framed? Or larger?

I'm sure more seasoned stitchers will come along soon too...
