  • Hi guys. Well I have been awol for a while as been poorly :( but feeling much better today. Shame its been the week I had booked off work - due back tomorrow, how typical!! Was expecting loads of chat to catch up on.....but NO???!!! Must be the dark winter days, less motivation for stitching.

kmmr I love that first pic its fab! well done lol and I can see why they take a lot of work! You'll have to tell people to stop having kids till u've caught up!

Well I haven't stitched a stich either....but my excuse is I've just enrolled on an open uni course so started that this week when I was feeling well enough to concentrate. Think my christmas cards are all gonna have to be simple quick stitches - not that that is a bad thing, I generally really like simple designs as they look pretty.

Anyway hope everyone is ok and has a fab week xx

beg. Love the ballerina. The santa card made me smile :)

Kmmr. Welcome to the cafe. Love the nursery designs you have done, very colourful!

Here's my update pic though I haven't done a lot this past 2 weeks. I'm about ready to roll his face up and move onto the body but there's a few small areas to finish first.

sorry for going MIA, i've had so much on and havnt been myself for much of it.

I've read back since i last posted on 28th nov or whatever it was. It has been really quiet, erm, party because i've not been cluttering the thread up no doubt!

I'm sorry to hear your news Biker, but as the others say, strength not pity is being sent through the ether to you earthhug.gif. Tracy, i hope your treatment goes well and that they dont cancel again. Ruth Honey - I'm sorry for your loss. Wishing you the best for the clearing out, i know how hard that bit is too.

did i post here to say that a) woo! the wood buring stove fitters were coming unexpectidly early at the end of november? i was so excited.:j i thought i did, but possilby the computer ate the post. if so, sorry for going over old ground. Sorry also as it's not stitchy related, and sorry as it's hardly a big problem in the scheme of things. so I'll make it small to take up less room!

the builders did a great job on Friday (28th Oct) putting in a new lintel and hearth tiles, then plasterer was coming monday and stove fitters tues. Plasterer didnt come till tues...so no stove :0( . And no phone call to say the plans had changed. We got in at 10.15 last night after being away since friday and having a very long drive to find All lights on downstairs (even for rooms we'd shut off), plaster splatters over the furniture we couldnt move out (ie, plasterer didnt put down dust sheets), filthy kitchen & dining room floors and sh*t in the toilet. Not a nice homecoming.

Anyway, they have made good and finally finished the job last Thursday. As the plaster is still drying (silly damp weather) and as it needs to be seasoned (like a wok!) we can't have a full fire yet, but did light it friday night for the first time!:j last night we lit another little fire... OH read and i curled up and stitched my new little mouseloft xmas kit! bliss! (see, there was a stitchy point in the end!)

Louise I love it! As I was saying, I love nice and simple - so effective lol.

Mrs M - Hi :) Little stockings sound cute - I'm sure lots will sell

23rd - It annoys me that people that are supposed to be professional leave a mess like that and don't respect peoples homes. But I'm glad its sorted and I'm sure it will be worthwhile once you can actually light it (the fire that is, not the people that built it :D) and sit in front of it properly.

After saying this morning I haven't done a stitch, today I decided to start a little card. Its going to be the front door of the subs picture in the most recent WOXS, in my own unique style (ie in the colours I have, not what it says :rotfl:). So Ive done the door step and the presents. Not a lot I know but hey every little helps

  • Love your samplers kmmr particularly the colours of the train one. :T

Glad to hear you're feeling better Observer. Good luck with your studies. :)

Your tiger continues to grow shelly. He's really impressive :T

Your dalek looks simple but very effective Louise :D

Sounds as though you've had a bit of a nightmare time 23rd with all that workman stuff going on but hopefully you will be able to reap the rewards of all that inconvenience you've had. Make the most of it. :D

Haven't started a new stitchy thingy yet - undecided what to choose. Decisions Decisions ............

Thanks for the welcome everyone. Any more ideas for the Nursery style stuff I am doing? I think you can see the style I like - fun child friendly designs, that will interest the child (rather than some of the ones which appeal more to parents)

Has anyone ever done one of the bothy Threads cut through designs? How fiddly are they to do? Also I've never done a design on dark material - does nayone have any special advice on how to deal with darker fabrics.

I am working on one now for my niece, which is making good progress, although it's lots of white/cream/light brown on white, which is fun, but never looks like a lot of progress is being made! I'll upload pictures when it looks slightly more interesting. Just started on Sunday so it will take a while to be presentable.
