Hello all!
I am a long time cross stitcher - but new to this thread. To give a bit of background, I got inspired a number of years ago and decided to pick up the needle again (after doing lots as a teenager) when a friend had a baby. I did a lovely one for her.. and then for my nephew, and then the next nephew, and then another friend.... and as you can imagine now that I am in my mid thirties this is becoming a major problem! The problem is I love to do them, and to give them to people, but it is a lot of work.
Anyway, having had that little complaint, I am actually here to ask for some ideas for the next one! I am looking for a nice pattern that would match this one NoahsArk as this is what the first child got. I don't mean a perfect match, but something with a similar feel in colour/size etc.
I have done most of the standard baby ones that appear as kits, and I find it hard to find good books online. There are no good shops near me.
Ideally I want something that isn't too 'cute', but more like trains or toys that will be appropriate for then child for a bit longer. The new baby is a boy. Something with numbers might be good? 1-10 maybe... just so long as it is really bright and fun.
Thanks in advance!0 -

I like these birth sampler kits that are on sew and so underwater or train or space I think you can never grow out of Mr Men !!
I've had my customary sunday afternoon snooze on the sofa with the cat although the cat didn't seem that tired for some reason ??? (something to do with sleeping all morning in his basket I wonder ???)
so going to enjoy the rest of Sunday afternoon with some cross stitch0 -
Thanks flat eric. The Mr Men's are on the list, but still not sure about them. I find them a little simplistic looking - blocks of colour - that I am not so keen on. Not unkeen, just not a preference.
My Sunday afternoon will also be cross stitching once I stop wasting time online looking for another one! Niece number three is growing up fast without a cross stitch...0 -

Hi chickywiggle.
Is it someething like this? ToyShelf If so that would be great - but not actually that one as I have done that twice for other people. As well as the similar one they do more in blues. I prefer not to repeat if possible, just to make my life slightly more difficult!
Current shortlist - opinions welcome:

http://www.artsanddesigns.com/cgi-bin/viewDetails.pl?catnumber=1290842596&csi=1 I actually really like this one - but the cat just looks a bit creepy/wrong, so I can't quite bring myself to do it.

Hi LindseyandMatthew - I came across the santas on the above site. Register for free and there are other free charts
The santas really appealed to me straightaway. Had been wondering about the wreath/heart design but NO I have done my last xmas card for this year.
Good luck.SPC NO 041STARTED SW 04/14 - TARGET 05/16 - TOTAL LOSS 10ST 3.5LBS :dance:0 -
I'm feeling the newbie pressure! The one I am working on now is just starting, but here is an old one I have a picture of.
(I am always struggling with pictures on this site - hope this works)
Edit: Oh... it's huge. How can I make it smaller!?
Edit2: Ahh... that's better0
