I know this isn't cross stitch related but please share what you are having for tea tonight. I love Friday evenings but never feel like cooking. Open freezer, add chips to oven tray was not an option this evening because I have no oven chips left ! and I'm not meant to have them anyway because I'm supposed to be following SW! I've opted for jackets but would be interested to know what fellow posters enjoy on a Friday evening. I would opt for takeaway but we don't have any near us that are worth bothering with.
Another unrelated question (sorry) but I was in Mr T this morning (an express store). The person in front of me only scanned two items but bagged up three (the third item was bagged after they had paid). I didn't say anything - just watched in amazement.... I know it must go on but to see it happen in front of my eyes. Would you have said anything?? none of the checkouts were manned but there was someone stocking shelves near by. Rather interestingly, the shopper turned to ask the staff member a question which was answered. I think I would turn to jelly if I ever attempted something like that.0 -
Maybe the person had two items the same so scanned one of them twice?0

I think I may finally have worked out how to post a link to my photos on Flickr. Still can't work out how to include the photo in the message but for anyone who is still interested here is the link to Ellie's stocking.

I know I'm a bit late but we usually have a quick tea too. We do our weekly shop first and buy fresh rolls, baguette or uncut loaf then we fill them with whatever we fancy.catwoman150 wrote: »

I have framed 3 pieces myself using off the shelf frames and was pleased with the result.
How I do it is....
place fabric face up on a flat surface and put the glass on top of it. Mark the corners of the glass on the fabric and cut the excess fabric off. Put glass back in frame and put the fabric on top facing down. Put the back on and voila!
I'm sure that's not how professionals would do it but it worked for me.flowerofscotland wrote: »

That's a lovely stocking!
I use photobucket but assume it's not too different to flickr. To post a pic in the message I copy & paste the IMG code straight into the message. You may or may not need to re-size your pics to get them to fit nicely into the thread, I know I do
Abbybryan. Welcome to the Cafe
Ruth. Sorry to hear about your MIL. Hope you feel better soon.
Debtdalek. Sounds like you got some bargains!
Biker. Love your finished pics, especially Too pooped.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

Thanks Shelly. Think this may have worked this time - it's the 2nd stocking before it has been made into a stocking.

Framing cross stitch can be as expensive or not as you want. I would suggest a good place to start is with a standard photo frame e.g. 8 x 10 or whatever is big enough for your stitched piece. Photo frames don't have a deep recess so there is no space for beads or charms unless you don't put the glass back.
Sticky mountboard is good for non "heirloom" pieces - it comes in standard frame sizes and sewandso sell it as do other places.
Some of the XS mags have instructions on lacing which is the "proper way" to prepare needlework for framing and is essential for large pieces in my opinion.
Like most things it gets easier the more you do so start with something that isn't going to matter very much if it isn't perfect when you've framed it as you will get better the more you do.
Good luck! Framing things yourself is certainly a lot cheaper than paying a professional although I prefer to do this for my bigger pieces such as Lavender & Lace or Mirabilia designs which have cost a lot in cash and time to stitch.0
