Shelly I love that tiger. You are doing really well with it.

23rd & nykied thanks for the advice about cheaper glasses. I think I'm going to give ASDA a go. One of the issues is that I have had my eyes tested twice in the last 5 weeks (used free vouvhers each time - very MSE) and each prescription is totally different. I don't know which is use. I have actually booked for a test tomorrow at ASDA costing £15, I given up on free in case that's the problem, and will see what they have to say.

Ebaybaby, your daughter's stitiching is great. I started cross stitch young but never attempted something as large as that. I hope you have told her from all of us how well she has done. Your design is also nice.

Off to do the upstairs of the house, finish downstairs including washing down paintwork and scrubbing the floor. I don't know why I get so worried about people coming round you'd think they weren't friends.

Ailsb - I've had similar issues with my sight, and prescriptions... Mostly as diff opticians can't decide if I should wear them full time or not. I ended up getting a prescription from an optometrist, but getting £50 glasses from asda. I'm not totally happy as distance is a little blurryer than without with them, but at least my stitching is now clear!

ailsb - have no probs with specsavers - can normally find a £10 test (i also believe boots are same place) - then they have frames at £29 and £49 upwards,,,,,,,,,,, (price includes standard lenses)

  • If you pm me Mags and Aislb I will try and ;) sort something out for you.

Thank you ladies for your lovely comments on Myrtle Cottage - I'm really pleased with the finished result.

Your tiger is a stunning looking fella shelly. The colours really stand out against the coloured fabric.

Chicky - unfortunately I've been prescribed varifocal so although I've seen frames for £49 the lenses cost another £159 plus £30 per pair for antiglare (which I need) that's with Specsavers. Off to ASDA tomorrow they do varifocals for £95 all in - definately more my price.

Update on the cleaning. Downstairs sparkly clean, landing, my sewing room and bathroom clean. However the hoover has died. Oh well it's a good excuse.

  • BEG, that snowman is soo cute :T Great to see the cottage finished, where are you hanging it or is it a gift?

The dragon is 18ct and I have only ever used 14ct so its a tad smaller :rotfl: Its not so much the size of the squres, more that you can't see the holes. Yeah got bored of all the creams/whites etc, I will go back to it though I think I will flitter between them both, for now :D

I got anti glare on my glasses but I also can't tell the difference and wouldn't get it next time. Also I personally think it scratches more easily though I could have just had a dodgy pair as I took them back after 2 weeks with really bad scratching on the front (no idea how?!) After a good while complaining they did eventually do the lenses again and they do seem better this time around.

Hi and hello. Would you mind if I join you here. Have been told about you by the lovely Spiral over on the frugal thread.
I love to crochet and knit a little but have recently been doing a few little cross stitch kits. The two ponies were a little extra christening gift which I framed and added an applique letter and the giraffe was for someone who just loves them. That was also popped into a little frame. I've also got a completed snowman but haven't taken a photo yet. I love looking at peoples pics so hope you enjoy mine...:D

I don't believe in the concept of hell, but if I did I would think of it as filled with people who were cruel to animals.
