Yep i took the practice test and did not even GUESS the questions that i judged to be ridiculous ... i just left them blank and moved to the next one!

    11 / 24

    i was born here.
i was educated to degree level here.
i have worked here since 1987.
    ... and i get 11 out of 24.

Someone REALLY needs to take a look at this test format & question bank!

Conversely ... anyone getting 20+ should be reassessed because they should not know the answers to these questions unless
    1. they have 'crammed' specifically for the test ... and that should NOT be the way to go!!!
    OR
    2. they have cheated.

    Sad but true!!!
  • 15 out of 24, with random answers for the questions I had no clue about (correctly guessed the divorce year one for women). Also you don't need a GP's letter to get a hospital appointment, you need a referral, which doesn't mean you have to go to the hospital with a letter, not in my experience. So that's misleading, or mis-worded, for one...

The referral means the GP will write to the consultant requesting that they see the patient, who presented in practice with this, that and the other. An emergency referral will be done by telephone.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

STUPID questions - more like a history test than a citizenship test. Asking for dates and percentages is not relevant - should be asking for the spirit of the culture and law, not exact numbers that normal people couldn't be expected to know. I got 12 out of the 24, but I guessed a lot of the answers!

Failed. 15/24. The prescription one is wrong as I live in Wales (a part of the UK last time I looked) and everyone get's free prescriptions here.

UK: 19/24, 79%, I'm English born and bred. I thought a lot of the questions (if not all) were badly worded, some so much so that I almost thought some were trick questions.

Australia: 16/20 - but most of them were ones due to their government system being based on ours.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

I can assure everyone in this thread who took the test that it is of absolutely no use whatsoever. I took it just after it was first introduced to qualify for Indefinite Leave to Remain, I passed it and haven't used any of the information since.

As I said, completely useless and rather a waste of my time!:rotfl:

  • I failed.

    What a pile of poo.

But the real test -- how many Daily Mail readers would pass? And if they fail, should they be deported?

[Deport enough and eventually this silliness about immigration will go away and we can abolish the silly test.]
  • Thinking more about this I suspect they have put these silly questions in deliberately to trip people up. It seems me the test exists as a deliberate barrier. My suggestion to anyone wanting to live in Britain will be to become resident in another EU country, and then come and live here.

We hear the nonsense from so many people that we live in an overcrowded country. London certainly is crowded -- in parts. But the rest of the country isn't. There is so much that could be done to help the many, and reduce this xenophobic attitude, but they won't do it because it will tread on the toes of so many vested interests.

A suggestion. Reduce tensions by reducing overcrowding by building more homes -- there are lots of green areas even within the M25. The argument that we would be building on the green belt is spurious. The benefits of building lots more council houses would be immense. First there would be more housing; second as long as we adopt an affordability measure based on average income it will have a downward pressure on private sector rents; and third by reducing these rents it will put pressure on BTLers. They won't be just able to buy these houses on the back of the rents of others. That would help reduce house prices and let real FTBs into the market.

So tons of things they could do -- and abolishing this silly test can be the first step.

This country is such a greedy selfish hell-hole it is any wonder anyone wants to come here in the first place.
