I pulled on car park at 12.48, ok I popped in a shop forgetting to purchase my ticket, was in said shop for 5 /10 mins just browsing, came out and suddenly realised I hadn't purchased a ticket,( this is a brand new scheme at this car park, before you obtained yout ticket on entry and paid when ready to leave) I waited in que to purchase a ticket ad paid for 2 hours (ticket purchased at 1.05 and was paid for until 15.05. Ok we were 10 mins late getting back to car. But laughed it off and pulled off car park. I know wake up this morning to a fine of £80 but if paid by 23/8 it goes down to £50.
Do I ignore?
Please help. I do worry about things like this and cant possibly afford it.
refer to post 14, its as valid as me stating that I am Simon Cowel0 -
I gather that retailers are getting agitated about Parking Eye's presence in the Crown Wharf shopping centre in Walsall. There is an article in yesterday's Express and Star but I cannot establish a link. PPCs are there to provide kickbacks for landlords and their agents. They do not benefit the retailers on these shopping parks. Forget legislation, consumer pressure will curtail the activities of these cowboys.Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! I've linked to that article on post #20What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

Then read the sticky threads, see the preview pics of the letter-chain and watch the Watchdog link. I know you are worried but - it's simple - of course you don't pay a scammer, you are not 'in the wrong' and it's NOT a 'FiNE'.
DO NOT RESPOND, COMPLETELY IGNORE THE LETTERS, NOTHING WILL HAPPEN.
Read some other threads, there's so much info about private parking companies (PPCs). Ignore their bogus 'tickets' and be ready to laugh at and file away the 'scary letters' that will follow this bogus PCN. See the important top thread 'PPC letters' for preview pics of the letter-chains and go to the thread called 'Welcome, please read before posting' for the must-see Watchdog paper aeroplane youtube link:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...play.php?f=163
Most of us here have ignored these fake PCNs, whether from a supermarket or McDonalds car parks or where-ever. My fake PCN ticket 3 years ago was for overstaying - it's not a crime!
Basically any 'ticket' that calls itself a 'parking charge notice' is a fake; real PCNs are called 'penalty charge notices'. It's simple to tell the difference even though some of the fakes look legit and they may have a photo of your car on (big wow!) and are followed by scary letters, it doesn't make them any more enforceable than, say, a made-up £50 'charge' from me, for anyone reading this reply.
HTH now calm down and do some reading of the threads on that link, starting with 'PPC letters' and 'welcome...etc.' with the Watchdog link.
P.S. Just for fun, I just love this spoof letter by mwilletts which appeared on the 'Disabled Bay Insult' thread a couple of years ago which summarises the letter you got (which is NOT a fine):
QUOTE
They are all just begging letters, which are basically saying:
"Hi there Mr or Mrs X, we know we have no authority to fine you, as only a court can issue fines, so we are sending you an invoice, which we really hope you will be daft enough to pay.
We'll keep sending letters for a few weeks, possibly even a few months, at our expense, probably totalling a couple of pounds. They'll even get more threatening, we'll say we are sending debt collectors round and we are going to take you to court, but that would cost us even more money than we have already lost by writing to you, so we wont.
PLEASE pay us, as if you don't, more and more people wont pay us, and then we'll be sending letters out for no reason at all and you wouldn't want us to go out of business would you?
Sincerely
A Scammer"
Or words to that effect anyhows...
QUOTEPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Has anyone checked the planning permission for that retail park ?
It is a common condition that free parking must be provided in retail parks.0 -
I have received my second letter from them today asking for payment. I paid my parking fee but did not realise they had doubled their charges since i was last in the car park It was 80p an hour and they upped it to 80p for half an hour. I do worry about it going further with me not paying the fine. How many letters will i receive from them before they stop contacting me does anyone know?0

There is some very clear information in the stickies at the top of this board. Now stop worrying about empty threats.Still waiting for Parking Eye to send the court summons! Make my day!0
