You can't really blame the Libyans for wanting to give it back to us, though.
Put the fear of god into anyone

Really? it has been around for years.
I don't see why anyone would think that they could not get the sack if their private life effected their working life.
?
This guy didn't, in fact they begged him to come back.

More likely their photo in the paper, I didn't have you down as one of the naive ones.
Sorry, as a parent I would not say it is naive. One of the fundamental parts of being a parent is showing a child right from wrong and taking responsibility for ones actions.
I am sure some parents would have said if their children came back with goods they knew were stolen to hand themselves in or they would do it.
Turning a blind eye is far worse parenting than giving your child an ultimatum.
Some of the shops raided were owned by local people, some parents would have been distraught their children had taken part. Don't forget some parents would know the looted people or even work in shops that were looted.0 -
Seems that's a bit far fetched. This guy didn't, in fact they begged him to come back.
Was he not suspended? and nearly had a life ban?
But perhaps in those days it was not in his contract. Also mean as footballers have fixed term contracts they would have far more control of their contract negotiation.
But a great example of how bad roll models could be part of the problem, if that was anyone else they would have been sacked on the spot doing that at work.
But what of these

Do you guys support keeping them employed until jailed??0 -

It is not about turning a blind, you can take your own retribution that would be more effective than the courts. It is about not putting a stain on your child's record (if possible) that may follow him, if not for life certainly for the next few years. Then again you takes your choice.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Yes I do unless we have a guilty plea, it is what being Brit is all about;)

So if you got caught looting, a company has the right to sack you.
Are you really saying that is unfair and the company should support the person through it and keep their job for them?
No. I am saying that guilt by accusation is a pretty poor social and moral process.
J'AccuseLiving for tomorrow might mean that you survive the day after.
It is always different this time. The only thing that is the same is the outcome.
Portfolios are like personalities - one that is balanced is usually preferable.

I just thought I would highlight your point's.
So Lets put this in context.
You would be happy for a parent to actively stop their child facing the law if say that offence was someone knocking over and nearly killing one of your loved ones (god I hope it never happens). Providing the parent punished them?
Where do we draw the line on braking the law and punishment, is it ok to break the law if it is your own family?0
