I have to admit I was thinking the same thing. I know what you mean. :) I only enter things I think I might want or will be useful, don't see the point otherwise.

Why is that that some people's sig strips are stuffed full of competition wins, when I've only had two prizes, and neither of them are particularly brilliant (and yes, I know that I'm lucky to have won two prizes when there are others who have nothing).

Don't get me wrong - I don't begrudge people their prizes. I just wish I knew what the trick was. I enter a good 97% of the competitions that are listed here, so surely the odds aren't equal. (Maybe a mathematican can answer that. I won't be able to understand the answer though, as me 'n maths do NOT get on well together!)

I've got a few prizes listed though I don't think any are from here, nearly all, or at least the better ones are from tiebreakers. Entering comps which involve more than a few clicks really does cut down the "although friendly" opposition.
The easier a comp is to enter, The harder it is to win.

I hope your list will soon be growing,
    Good Luck

I'm with you on this one twistedpsycho, just seems selfish entering a comp when you don't want the prize.

Don't you stop posting.....and heaven help your poor train passengers tonight if you go over your messages in your mind at work....I think you should report the bad pm's you get....and know that most have agreed with you....by the way..I live near Newcastle and you in Portsmouth, perhaps we should enter them and do a swap!!! no, seriously with a name like twistedpsycho we wouldn't expect you to be a shrinking violet now!!!
Hope night shift wasn't too bad...I used to do them and wasn't a fan of them!!
Don't stop being the one with the courage to say what you mean..and you said it very politely.
You always think you are doign well..sharing things, especially in competitions, helping others to find and enter them,...but there is always someone selfish and back biting who will object.
Oh well..and i thought this place was different...but it isn't. Shame on you...whoever it was...

I do agree but unfortunately there is no rule to say you can't. I only enter comps for things I want to win and keep or to give to family. I never enter comps for tickets because 1) they're usually for something in london which I live nowhere near and 2) I live a very sad life with 2 children and hardly ever go out!!! I'd rather win a bottle of wine and a box of choccies!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

    NOW IN COMPING SEMI-RETIREMENT! :D

I kinda agree, when entering for tickets i always consider where it is, and if travel is included, so if its too far away i don't bother and look to enter something else, 'cause theres loads of opportunities out there!

Also some tickets for gigs/concerts aren't tickets they just put your name on the guestlist, so its always courtesy to say no if you can't go. I've done this before politely emailing the peoples if i'm busy and ask them to give them to someone else, and they were happy to be told (so its not wasted) so in my view if you can't use it then just say so, nothing lost really.

As for the late notice - most winners are told late to avoid resales of the tickets, and theres also the thing of if gigs aren't totally sold out then sometimes a few more comps appear to fill the venues.

I've won some excellent gig tixs from comps in the past, and i still enter now (though i do go to loads of gigs anyhow!) the way i view it as with all comps its fair game, and no different to someone selling household items/goodies they win in other prizes, everyone needs money and who's to say the next person (mse'er or not) who wins it doesnt do the same.

That said, I'd love to win something, anything soon!!!

Don't stop posting TP. You are entitled to your views here just as much as anyone. Don't let the ones who sent you abusive pm's put you off, just report them.

It's pathetic really that you can't have your own view without some people sending you abusive pm's, there just really is no need for it.

Hope your night shift went ok. I used to work nights as well and i know what a drag it was. Saying that, mine was in a call centre, not driving trains!

Hootie, i've yet to win a prize. I've never won anything in my life, but i'm really hoping that my luck will change! :D

I'm guilty of sometimes entering for concerts I probably can't attend. However, I do avoid competitions aimed at children. I have no small children in my life, but I do remember how much I loved getting stuff in the post as a child - so I leave those ones for parents and grandparents (or even the children themselves!).
latest win: LOTR: Moria - thanks to catz
    - I'm moving to Australia in April - will the competitions be any good there?!:rotfl:

Why do you enter them if you know you probably can't go? Not trying to start a fight or anything, just genuinely interested as to why :)

Why don't we just forget all about what others do and do our own thing. I don't enter holiday comps for 2 as I have young kids and don't see the point in entering but if others do thats up to them. I can see both sides of the arguement but think theres more important things to worry about (Gordon Brown!!). This is a well run forum with some very hard working people who find comps for all, kipper and fluffynit spring to mind but there are many who deserve thanks. Lets just be thankfull that they share with us the chance to win.
