Er, to be honest, mrsyorkie, I don't know I can answer that! Sometimes it's not always clear how far in advance you'll be notified, if you'll get tickets or just on a door list ... so I figure I'll just give it a go! Other times (like the Calvin Harris tickets! - which I feel really guilty about now) there's another prize on offer I would like.latest win: LOTR: Moria - thanks to catz
- I'm moving to Australia in April - will the competitions be any good there?!:rotfl:

Don't feel guilty about it azp, i've never even heard of Calvin Harris! Can you give them to another MSE'r perhaps?
Thanks for trying to explain
I think that sometimes we all get carried away with entering comps and sometime enter things just for the sake of entering (i know i sometimes do). I'm putting it down to the excitement of winning something.0 -
Have no idea why my comment should make you chuckle

but I'll state it on the open forum and make it clear that no pm's were from me, I don't think necessary or neither could I be @rsed to take it that far & in any case, I've got 10 pages of comps to catch up on

I do agree that you shouldn't enter comps where you don't qualify to use the prize/tickets. However, I did recently win a pair of VIP tickets to Donnington Park (full VIP treatment worth £500). I had thought I could go but realised my DH had a meeting that day and I had no other person to go with and no babysitters - gutted! I wasn't given the choice to pass them on so agreed that they picked the next person from the comp which I think is fair.WINS 2009 so far £212
WINS 2008 £823
WINS 2007 £14110 -
Wow!
I'll add my piece now. I generally don't enter tickets or holidays (unless they are weekend trips - as I have 3 small children its hard to have them looked after and too stressful to take them!
)
I have 'won' tickets I couldn't use - but I didn't enter the competitions (video-c seemed to be running thru the registered user list to get someone who could go.)
In general I don't agree in entering something that you are not going to use, but I don't see a problem if you are entering for a friend or relative.
I am shocked that people needed to PM you - this is a public forum and everyone is entitled to their own opinon.
Please don't stop posting due to the words of a few - as you see a majority agree with you, those who don't, agree to differ.

I don't enter comps for tickets unless they include travel and accommodation as I live in Scotland on a tight budget and can't afford to just jump on a plane/train/bus etc.
I do enter comps where I might not want the first prize though. Sometimes I want the runner up prize so I enter in the hope of winning that.0 -
Why worry, what we should be doing is thanking all those where share the competition details with us, people like Kipper, fluffynit and strepsy to name a few. Sorry to the rest but so many people to mention and thank. they could keep all that information to themselves and stand more chance of winning so from me
A BIG THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!:EasterBun Everyone seems normal until you get to know them0 -
Like i have already said though, soemtimes tickets are the runner-up prize! i have never entered a comp where the main prize is tickets, as i know i cant go. Yet ive still managed to win tickets for 2 musicals in london and tickets for the ideal home show0

Posted this on freebie site
then I thought Hmmm I might
post again on comping thread
if that's bad don't shoot me dead!
Looking at that you should be writing tiebreakers too,,,,,,,,,:T
But yes I wouldn't be without my Rhyming Dictionary and Thesaurus.
Theres so many words and so little space to put them.
You got to make everyone count.0 -
Thanks OP for bringing this up, it has made me think twice about entering a comp. Although I win a lot of ticket comps, I have used them all bar one. But I am probably going to be more selective in the future, as it is easy to get caught up in entering a comp without looking at the prize. Personally I don;'t enter DVD/CD comps unless I really want it (or family/friends wants it).0
