Just changed to Budget from Airtricity. I changed to Airtricty from PowerNI (was NIE then) last year. It was Ok at first, then in the 2nd year their bills went up to just below PowerNI, but the difference was that PowerNI gave out paper bills and discounts by paying monthly/quarterly. Airtricty is two monthly. Thankfully that was before Airtricity introduced the 2 year contract. Downside to Budget is the £65 deposit and that I have to pay for my electricity by DD BEFORE I've used it. They have my deposit and my monthly payment before they have even supplied my electricty. If they go bust, I imagine I will have lost my deposit and the electricty that has already paid for will have to be paid for again to another supplier. However, I am prepared to take the risk.

I phoned up Tuesday, quick call just took my details and got welcome pack in post on Friday and now waiting on a call from them to change over.
    Very simple!

Smart move jjd. Some-one from PowerNi will call you and quote some numbers for you to input to your keypad, then job done.

Once you have switched you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

I hope budget continue to do well, I moved to them last September just before Powerni's latest increase and can't say a bad word against hem. Just wish more people would move and create competition. I'm always telling my family to switch but because they haven't heard of them, they're afraid of something going wrong.

My family are the exact same, I've been telling my mum and the in-laws to change over for ages now, mum finally made the switch but to airtricity instead of Budget and I think its because she hasn't heard of them. I'll have to give the in-laws another push at switching

I finally got tired of having to worry when I used my electricity (currently on PowerNI's Powershift tariff), so I gave Budget Energy a call and was speaking to a nice lady who explained their prices, the switching procedure (easy!) and was kind enough to plan things so nothing clashed when I'm away for 2 weeks in New York.

Normally you can switch your own keypad meter over yourself using some codes provided but since mine needs reprogrammed from Powershift to a regular tariff, the lady said she'd call me when I got back from my trip to arrange the visit.

Very impressed by the prompt and efficient service so far, and always nice to be supporting a local company.
