No I was joking, he laughed. But in response, regardless of the PWC earnings the NRP still has to pay for the children's upkeep, and rightly so.

And just to add (I know you weren't having at dig at me) things like the cricket course are not part of the CS are they?

I do work by the way!

You're absolutely right about both having to support.

It sounds like you and your ex have a good arrangement.

He gets a good wage, I don't know how much

If you really want to know, you can roughly work it out. For 1 child it's 15% of his income (including any CTC he gets) 20% for 2 kids, and 25% for 3 or more. There are bits and pieces he can get knocked off, for having them a certain amount of nights a year, travel costs if it's over a certain amount etc. CSA 2 if much fairer as it doesn't take into account a NRPP's income, but unfair in so far as it takes CTC for NRP's "new" child into account, although the PWC will be claiming CTC for her kids!!! So they are getting CTC twice for the same kids!!! They need to scrap the whole thing and start from scratch!! It causes far more hassle than it's worth!!!

I have no idea how much earns, he is self employed but works for a company. I would guess 2k a month, sometimes more. He still has to pay taxes once a year in January? (I don't know much about self employment), but he hasn't paid for some reason, not that that's anything to do with me.

He easy has over a grand a month disposable. But we have an arrangement and I'm happy with it (although sometimes I have to battle with him over him being mean!), I did a few months back ask for an extra £10 a week as it'd been the same for a couple of years and I felt it was fair, he did try to argue it but I gave him a deadline to decide by and I got it in the end, probably because he knows if it went through the CSA he'd pay near double.

I realise that makes me sound like a right money grabber!

Just to add, he has said that he knows every penny of what he pays does actually go on the kids.

Sounds like you have a good arrangement, and if everyone was as fair, on both sides, as you two, then we could do away with the scourge of the CSA :) Unfortunately, there are NPR's who won't pay, and money grabbing PWC's :( You should nip over to the child benefit board for some real horror stories - on both sides!!!!!!

As he discovered only too late paying money into the PWC's bank does not prove you have paid maintenance - unless money is specifically designated and marked as "maintainance for child x and y" they the CSA don't count it as such and the onus is on the NRP to prove that the money was paid for that purpose.

In our case they took the PWC's word for it.

I didn't mention the debts she left him with either, a loan repayment, household bills that she left him with that were in his sole name as she didn't work, that after he left she didn't pay, (for a time when he wasn't even living in the house too) that bounced back with some via debt collectors later to my unsuspecting husband, so he had the expense of that on top of his other living expenses.

His credit rating was shot to pieces on top of everything else - he couldn't even change his mobile phone for a cheaper one to try and save himself some money.

Sorry to hijack the OP's thread, but just to say that my OH had the same situation! Had to pay twice here too!

I'd (genuinely) love to join you in that debate because I could argue that form the other side but I think that's a whole other thread in itself!

Well said, I couldn't agree more.

But presumably going in to catch up would be on a voluntary basis, so one day missed or rearranged wouldn't be a problem.

Not usually as the lecturers who mark are only in on certain days, so if it's exams etc then they are on fixed dates as are the workshops.
