Oh and don't ever think it's just you who doesn't understand stuff, it's just that you don't see them to talk to, they are out there, just as nervous as you are!
First lesson as an OU student.
How to open the brown envelope and slide contents out just enough to read mark then slide back till you feel strong enough to read the comments :rotfl:

It's a great feeling when you sit at a tutorial and other people say "I didn't understand that either"

    Good luck LJD1

OMG, dumpy and crafyscholar, you don't know how much better you have made me feel! I've made myself sit down and start and i'm actually enjoying this essay. 200 words in .....yeahhhhhhhh!

I can't wait for that initial euphoria of posting the tma off, sadly, followed a few days later by the feeling of dread about getting it back. Then it arrives..... to open or not! This is a level 2 course so I know my marks will probably be a lot lower than previous tmas. Right......must continue!

    Update
    1) Change gas / electricity supplier
    2) Set up direct debit for credit card
    3) Get up to date with my studies - OU tma 2 x college assignments and OU weekly studying
    4) Not spend any money from our bank account (hubbies wages) and use the money I earn to live on.
    5) Spring clean my clinic

Managed to get the most important assignment done and the financial stuff so that leaves tomorrow morning to spring clean my treatment room. Not bad for 24 hours, lets hope i'm normally this quick at doing my weekly challenges.

Well done on your progress so far.
Know exactly where you are coming from with the OU assignments. I have two to do in the next week DB123 and DD100. I set up my workspace get all the stuff out then get the irresistable urge to go and do the ironing, clear out a cupboard, make a coffee......talk about avoidance tactics:rotfl: :rotfl: .
There is nothing like the feeling of relief when you actually stick a TMA in the postbox:T :T . :A :A :j

Think I will take a leaf out of your book and pencil in some study time, been a bit adhoc lately.

Good luck with the studies and your other goals

I know where you're coming from with the avoidance tactics! I'm doing Sk277 which is only 30 points thank goodness. If you're doing two courses how many points are you taking on. All the best with your assignments xx

My two courses add to 90 points this year.
There are a couple of 10 pointers I would also like to tackle but maybe later in the year.
Working towards a degree eventually, I hope:rolleyes: ;) What are you doing at college?

OMG 90 points! How? How? How? I'm in total awe of you! I actually quite like the studying, it's the exams that freak me!

At college i'm just doing sweedish massage but the A&P component is quite heavy as we've not had a tutor and the assignments are long to say the least. We were given four over christmas as 'they'd not got round to handing them all out'! Still, only one and a half to go!

Have you got exams for either of yours?

    Hi Chrismojam
Yes its the social science one - Introduction to the social sciences.
I'm doing the DB123 - finance course too but thats for "fun" :rotfl: - although it will still count towards a degree.:D This MSE stuff gets in your blood.

The good thing about an Ou degree is that if you get bored you can always diversify into another subject, and the points still count, you can stick with a subject and have a named degree eg social sciences or do lots of different stuff and have an open degree.

You have to be a bit disciplined with it but its a great way to study at your own pace, and at home.

I don't really like the exams either, I always do better with the assessed work.
I wanted a break from exams this year so I picked these two courses specifically because they don't have an exam as such. They do have a timed assignment to be done in a study centre under exam conditions:eek: BUT you are given the subject beforehand to work on your answer. So as long as you prepare well and can then remember what you did it shouldn't be that bad.  Or at least thats what i'm hoping:o

The swedish massage sounds interesting , are you thinking of doing it as a career, or just as an interest.
Glad I didn't have 4 assignments to face over xmas:eek:
