Thinking about it, maybe what we set up isn't a direct debit. It's under the heading adhoc payments in my online set up....would that be a standing order? Tbh i don't know the difference! It allows us to make as many payments as we want when we want. In the past i've made payments to another credit card for ten pounds then another ten pounds a few days later. As soon as extra money goes into the account I put it straight of a credit card.January budget

Not only it's in writing but we are watching!
Get cracking with those 5 now and let us know when they are done!
Have a good week too!
You've got me scared now, I have the dfw mafia watching me! I've got all the information regarding gas/electricity switch and I've penciled study time in my diary for the next week so hopefully I'm on my way.January budget

We also have a DD set up for my dh's cc (such a lot of abbreviations!) The minimum payment is taken out each month but we pay extra online. It has saved me getting late payment charges as i'm not the most organised person in the world.0

All the best with it LJD
I know how demotivating OU can be having done it. I felt like I was constnalty drowning in papers/tapes/ wallcharts/ flash cards/ videos/ dvds/ cdroms/ booklets.
Getting this organised was one thing I never managed. Good luck to you on this.
I found with study. that the flylady approach worked ( albeit before I knew what flylady was) things like
organise papers
write introduction
write for
write against
conclusion
footnotes
print & send
Im not sure whether you TMAs would have the same structure as mine, I guess in some ways they will always be similar, given the OU structure.
All the best, you have a lot on, but I know you can do it!
I also found with fly, working out what day I needed to go shopping ( mondays were good as tescos give till spits that day I tihnk for extra pointage) so Id do my meal plan on sunday to make me more organised.
Must get back into this next week - will keep an eye out on how you are doing.

x:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Thanks for your words of encouragement Lynz, I know what you mean about the OU. I'm more organised with this course than I have been previously but there's room for improvement!
I've done the gas / electricity change! Whoooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Ok, why didn't I do that months ago, talk about easy, lol. My problem is, I get all the information then show it all to hubby and he says 'lets think about it' and it doesn't get done. This time I just did it, phoned him at work, told him we'd be saving £50 a month and we're both happy. Finally done!
Update
1) Change gas / electricity supplier
2) Set up direct debit for credit card
3) Get up to date with my studies
4) Not spend any money from our bank account (hubbies wages) and use the money I earn to live on.
5) Spring clean my clinic

Good Luck with it LJD1, good idea to break your goals down like that so it looks more managable. My treatment room looks like a bomb site, I have a customer booked for later, think I had better sort mine too0

The thing with the OU is to be organised and try not to get behind, once you get behind you are playing catch up all the time and it's pretty demotivating. The books CDS etc are deliberatly planned so that you don't just plough through one book where you could read pages and pages in one go and take none of it in. It breaks it down into chuncks which from the learning point of view will help your learning.
Don't forget to ring/email your tutor if you are struggling they are very helpful and can get you back on track.
Anyway back to OP, have you switched supliers yet :-)

OU Tutor and student!
Wow! You must be organised being a tutor AND a student with the OU, not doing Human Biology by chance? Lol. Getting behind was my problem in December, lots of events transpired against me and i've done nothing but study over Christmas and New Year to catch up. Hence, time to sort everything out.
I've done the switch and am about to make a start on finishing the tma which needs to be posted by Tuesday. I've done 50% of it so I think this is do-able. Also need to do my normal chapter studying and finish off two college assignments for Thursday, do practical for Thursday, work ...... ok, this is making me panic. I'll just concentrate on the OU study for now!January budget

I tutor S103 and S377 and I'm a student on DB123 this year (although I've done other courses in the past). I felt I needed to see it from the other side of the PT3 form, you know, the fear of the approaching deadline... opening the brown envelopes when it arrives back after marking ...Realising that you are still on chapter 2 when the course calander says you should be reading chapter 5.... Sound familar?
I think doing this has helped me a better tutor but we love to help so give us a ring if you are stuck/behind/totally lost! we can't help if we don't know you are struggling. Oh and don't ever think it's just you who doesn't understand stuff, it's just that you don't see them to talk to, they are out there, just as nervous as you are!
I'd do the TMA first but don't dwell on it, do as much as you can then move on to your college assignments. Don't spend so much time on one thing you don't even start the others.
And finally you've switched suppliers! Woo hoo, well done and put a big thick line though it on you list of things to do. Such a satisfying feeling.0 -
