How would any one regulate disabled spaces if it wanst for the blue badges???
The amount of people who abuse these spaces is incredible.
Im not saying the blue badge is full proof but its the only mechinism to determine.
The situtaion of not displaying a blue badge is no different than not displaying a parking ticket!
I actually appluad the company issuing fines for people using the spaces with out a blue badge!0 -

So basically, their treatment of me because I don't have a blue badge at present is OK?
They have an obligation to monitor the bays, they monitor them enough to issue charges!
Sorry, but your post has annoyed me no end. I understand the blue badges serve a purpose, but as someone stated previously, they are becoming harder and harder to get. Effectively you are saying genuinely disabled people (who do not have a blue badge) should be regarded in the same light as people who abuse disabled parking bays.
Had there been wider spaces elsewhere in the carpark I WOULD have used them. They do not provide these, and in actual fact, I don't know anywhere that does!:(0 -
Your issue should not be with the parking company but with the people who issue the badges.
They are the ones that have held up the badge and resulted in your fine.
Otherwise everyone could tell the parking company "My badge is in the post"
And yes the government has a strict criteria for getting a blue badge if you dont meet this then normally there is a reason!0 -

I really don't want to get into an argument with you over this, but again there was a snide comment in the post.
And my issue is with the parking company and IKEA. What's the point in the Equality Act when (given your opinion) it means nothing?0 -

Without a blue badge how would Ikea police these? Take peoples word for it for fear if being taken to court? It becomes pointless having disabled bays.
Again fairplay to IKEA for taking action on these spaces! Alot of places dont and they are heavily abused!0 -

I applied for a badge, but haven't heard from them yet. However, I meet the "automatic entitlement" criteria, so the badge WILL be issued.
I have been wheelchair bound for 12 years due to an operation I had when I was 16 years old. Forgive me for feeling I'm owed something! I have spent the last 12 years building a life that I can manage and am a successful business woman. I don't slouch around all day doing nothing because "Oh poor me, I'm disabled!" - So please rethink your posts, as both so far have had a dig at me and I don't appreciate it.:(0 -

Ikeas only legal obligation is to provide a percentage of bays, its not up to them to police them and say who can't use them. Disability legislation does not cover just those with badges.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -
