Welcome Sam - of course you can join in. Take it in small stages - eg half stones, rather than look at the whole amount you need/want to lose. Set a target eg to lose half a stone by end of Feb etc and work towards that

Are you following a specific diet plan
  • at the moment no, just trying to cut out all the rubbish, which is so hard as I am a stay at home and have 2 young kids, so I am trying to get us all eating healthy, I suppose I just need a kick up the back side.
we have a ton of chocolate left over from xmas, I gave a lot of it away, but it keeps calling me and keep running.

  • aww honey I really feel for you. I guess consultant is probably the best one to ask about this - I know she swears by success express to give you a boost. Hoep you getyour doggie - lots of walks might be the answer! Thanks for the help on the HEBs. I bought some tesco apricot wheats - are they the same as the all brand ones or not? Just weighed in at the gym and I'm devastated. I've stuck to the plan like glue this week, planned everything that I've eaten, my clothes feel looser than they did last week, I went to the gym twice . .. and I've gained 0.2kg. Could have cried when I got on the scales. I'm typing this as I wait to do a class so best be off and try and burn off this. I'm so disappointed, and I was actually looking forward to weighing in as I was so sure I must have lost this week . . . . . .

Can I join, I really need some help and motivation, I need to lose weight, Have had 2 children close together, (1 yr old and a 2 1/2 yr old) I now feel ready to start, I just need some help and this looks the great place to start.

I have about 3 stone to lose, but I would be happy with whatever I can lose.

Just by looking at this thread, Sam, you have come to the right place! I wish I'd known about this place when I was trying to lose weight. I'm sure everyone will keep you motivated on here. Good luck to you! And think of that new wardrobe you will have to get....that's what kept me going!!

    That's always a good motivation, a holiday!

Personally, I found it easier NOT to cut out everything I loved but to drastically reduce the amounts I had. If I'm told I can't have something, it makes me want it even more. So I just had a tiny bit of choccie a day (that is my downfall and still is) so then I didn't crave it. Just take it slowly and as a previous member said, aim for a half a stone target at a time, and don't give yourself a hard time if you don't lose anything one week, it sometimes happens like that, just keep going!!

This does sometimes happen. You do everything right and you still don't lose anything. But if you're going to the gym regularly, don't forget that muscle weighs more than fat so you might not have lost weight but your clothes will feel looser and you will look better, so don't get too deflated if the scales haven't gone down this week, just keep up all the good work you are obviously doing and they will!!!

I'll cry with you Katie cos I know that feeling!!! Its very de-motivating when you have tried so hard only for it not to result in the loss that you so hoped for.
    Enjoy the workout!

Sam - this was mentioned previously on this thread by consultant: Work out how many weeks until you go away on holiday. Lets say for example its 15 weeks. If you lose an average of 1lb a week you could have lost just over a stone, if you lose an average of 2lb a week you could have lost just over 2 stone!!! Might help motivate you!!
LouBlue - Well done on getting to target :T Any tips for us?? How are you managing staying at target? Is it difficult?
