Does anyone else have this problem? How do you get around it?
I think you'll just have to let them know. If they're happy with their weight good for them, but you're not and if you want to do something about it that's up to you.
Unless this party was a one off special occasion and you'll never be in that situation again, you're going to have to tell them. Some will support you some might try and sabotage your efforts(hopefully not) but I think in the long run it'll make things easier.0 -
katiepoppycat wrote:Looking good so far everyon - no unexpected gains and lots of losses. I'm having a slight issue with SW. I do Bodyoptimise which is the online version and it doesn't always seem to know what you can and can't eat - ie, I didn't know about being able to have the weetabix porridge as a HEB as it didn't - and still doesn't - give me the option in my food diary and the syns online doesn't tell you if you can have something as a HE. Cereal a particular biggie for me, so can anyone help me? I could do with a list of cereals that you can have a 42g portion of as a HEB or that are a portion in themselves, like the weetabix porridge. There are only about 4 on the downloadable list but I can't believe thats all there are. I've had it up to here with chuffing all-bran but the 28g portion of anything is so tiny it's just not worth having. I don't really like fruit or yoghurt so cereal really is the main option of a weekday morning. Help!
Hi KPC - I was having the same frustrations with Healthy Extras, so I know what you mean! I have an old SW book and I new that the list of HEs had been extended to include such things as Weetabix porridge, so I bought a SW pack on ebay, only to find that it contained exactly the same list as the book I already had!
Consultant31 very kindly sent me a list of new HEs, and I'm sure she'd send you it too. In the meantime, I'm looking at it and as you know, Weetabix Seriously Oaty porridge is now a HEB. You can also have 42g of Allinson Bran Plus Cereal, Weetabix crunchy bran, Nestle Fibre 1, All Bran Apricot Bites, WW Perfect Balance Toasted Multigrain Flakes with Apple, or 2 Weetabix Oatibix (plus 3 syns). They are the only ones that are 'solo' - all the others are 28g of whatever plus something to make up the fibre, which, to be honest, I can't be bothered with.
I've been trying to introduce some variety with breakfasts for the last couple of weeks, and on a red day I'll have bacon, egg and tomato, or Quorn sausage and scrambled egg on a green day, or poached eggs on toast on either day. I've also tried Consultant's breakfast suggestion for a green day which is to make up some plain couscous and add it to a muller light with some fresh fruit - that's actually quite filling, free, and doesn't use any HEs, so you can save them for later.
Hope that helps - see you all later, must get on with some work!

We had a party on saturday and although I tried to eat the healthy stuff as much as possible I got lumbered with birthday cake, more birthday cake, sweets and pie. I feel like I can't say I'm watching my weight because some of the people there were larger than me and I don't want to insult people. A few of my friends are considerably bigger than me and I feel I can't tell them I'm on a diet as it's basically saying they should be.

You could tell people you've made a new resolution to eat more healthily, and you're trying to cut down on sugary and fatty foods. Even skinny people should watch what they eat and only have certain foods in moderation, so it's a good excuse.

Could you not tell them that your GP has recommended you loose weight because.....
Or you have noticed that you eat a lot of sugary stuff and was reading it is not good for you so.....
Or you saw a TV prog and felt you should maybe loose a little....xxx0 -
cupid_stunt, yeah it's a tricky situation I find myself quite a bit, especially with my parents. I go to their house for tea and i KEEP trying to say "please don't feed me xyz i REALLY need to lose some weight", and she looks at me and says "ahhh there's nothing of you lass, i'd kill to be your size" and then I feel guilty :-(
Cheekyweegit I know exactly how you feel!!! There's absolutely nothing I can say but we've all been there and hopefully you can find the motivation to make some changes this week. After the binging there becomes a point though where you physically start to repel those foods that you've just binged on, so HOPEFULLY your body wont crave christmas cake for a LONG time coming!!! Stick with it though, the biggest temptation is just to give in altogether- it's just easier to admit defeat but DON'T. Keep going!!!0 -

Not weighed myself yet but know it won't be very good. Have been giving in to the cake/chocolate cravings as had pmt and fed up with the rainy weather. Have been very tired too which never helps.
Have bought a butternut squash to make some soup for tomorrow - today's lunch was healthy low fat prawn sarnie with snack-a-jacks... and a choccy bar!
Tomorrow I try harder.
Sorry guys, just haven't had much motivation this week, although have had to park 15 minutes walk from work but somehow doubt that's evened it up!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Hey I'm a newbie here.
Haven't read all of this thread but just wanted to say good luck and well done to all of you. :T I put on 3 stone about 6 years ago, first time ever in my life, due to emotional reasons (aren't they always) and with the help of Weight Watchers and my friends and family, I lost it all. Took over a year but now my eating habits have changed and no more yoyo diets which are just bad news!!
Keep up the good work everyone! *now where did I put that family size bar of Cadburys.....* :rolleyes:A cloudy day is no match for a sunny disposition~ William Arthur Ward ~0 -
Can I join, I really need some help and motivation, I need to lose weight, Have had 2 children close together, (1 yr old and a 2 1/2 yr old) I now feel ready to start, I just need some help and this looks the great place to start.
I have about 3 stone to lose, but I would be happy with whatever I can lose.

MissMoneyPenny wrote:Honey Good luck with the dog. Did the rescue kennel say why they have it or rather what the people who gave it to them, said was the reason they couldn't cope with it anymore? I think you are brave taking on a rescue.
MissMP - they wont tell us -I did ask. There are 2 pups - both sisters - I'm going on the basis that they were the last of the litter to go and the owners couldn't get rid of them.... The staff at the sanctuary said they were very good natured.
DD isn't well since coming home from school. I fear she has yet another chest infection and as DH is not home from work I will not be able to go to SW - in a way I'm glad, in a way I did want to go. People I speak to say I must be "stuck" as this is my ideal weight but its far from it. My weight is quite deceiving (sp). I asked several people - people who wouldn't lie to me eg my mum what weight they thought I was and they were all out by at least a stone and a half under. I'm not happy at this weight and I want to lose some more but it seems I'm stuck. Apart from the odd pound off and on again I have plateaud at this weight for months now. Can anyone please help??
I've tried changing the HE's, varying the days etc but nothing is working. I've even taken up swimming 2-3 times a week but nothing is shifting :mad:0
