I know I should put this on the recipies thread but for handiness Honey, here it is:
onion
garlic
2 x chopped carrots
2 x celery sticks, chopped
1 x can chopped tomatoes
2pt stock
2oz dried spagetti (broken into short lengths)
frozen peas
cabbage (I usually leave this out!)
1 x leek, chopped
1 tsp dried basil
lightly fry the onion & garlic, carrots, leeks & celery in fry light until soft,
add chopped tomatoes, spagetti, basil, stock and peas and bring to the boil,
reduce the heat and simmer for 30 - 40 minutes
You might need to add more water as it's a really hearty soup. I must admit, I frequently substitute some ingredients with whatever needs to be used up in the cupboard or fridge.
Enjoy!Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -
Angel - well done - that's a great weight loss! Hope if I have a down day it's followed by such a good weight loss.:rotfl:
I have had a good couple of days - really trying to stay focussed. I turned down an invite to a friend's birthday get together this evening as I wanted a week completely on track and knew an evening out drinking would ruin all that - and probably be followed by lots of post-drinking bingeing!
Instead, I went to the gym (reluctantly) and once I got going really got in the mood. I watched Dancing on Ice whilst I did 40 minutes on the treadmill (2 mins walking, 2 mins running, increasing in speed each time, and 40 minutes on the cross trainer. I feel on a real high now, and although I was really hungry came home and ate healthily because I didn't want to undo the good I'd just done - 600 calories on the machines.
Think I will get weighed Monday from now on instead of Wednesday - means this week will be a 'short' week but think I would rather be on teh same day as the majority of you on here. Pshychologically that will help me I think.
Just have to hope that the news on the scales is good though - bit worried that the exercise will mean looser clothes but no weight loss but I'm not self disciplined enough to stay away from the scales.
Hope everyone is having a healthy weekend.Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -

Ladies, some advice please
I was on the Depo jag for 1 year and my last injection was March 2006, I still have not restarted and am struggling to loose weight.
Has anyone any experience of this and is there perhaps a link.
Both my daughters were on this and both having trouble now! I never did like the idea of it and wish I'd tried to talk them out of it before they had the first one.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Isn't that peculiar! I had the merina coil fitted for 3 years and I had difficulty conceiving too! Something to think about for sure! BTW there is definitley a link between the contraceptive pill and increased appetite, so why wouldn't there be with the depo injection too!
How are you getting along this week xxxdarlingxxx? I had a wee look at your menu last night and you seem to be doing ok... it might just be that you need to up the amount of vegetables your eating... stick with us on LW9 it'll come off eventually!Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -
consultant31 wrote:Well done Suggs another weight loss :j . Even when you've been naughty you never seem to put on, only maintain. If I didn't like you, I'd hate you :rotfl:
Sorry ConsultantI guess the gym is negating the naughty moment, I fully expected not to lose this week. I admit though that sometimes when I have a naughty moment, I might not eat much most of the next day. Not ideal I know. Last week I swam 50 lengths, went to the gym three time and aquacise'd once. Which is down on the previous week, but will aim to improve on this this coming week.

It looks very depressing out there - gloomy and rainy. I am going to go out for a walk now - don't feel like it but know I :j will feel even less like it later on, and will feel very fed up if I don't try. Hello to anyone else up this early on a Sunday morning!0

Hi Jumping!
I've been out with the dog for a walk too - it's freezing drizzly and generally yukky. Glad its over with until this afternoon when he'll need to go again.
Just about to launch into the housework - procrastinating here!0 -
honey_gem wrote:Hi everyone,
I am looking to lose weight and found this thread while looking through the site. I am 5' 7" tall and currently weigh 13st 11oz, I have never been to a diet class in my life but am getting really sick of all the fat jibes from my dad, the big two being "your mum was never as big as you are when she was your age" or "if you eat that you'll get fat" he says it jokingly but it really hurts and it is getting me down, it is making me worse as I head straight for the chocolate or crisps when it happens. I know I need to lose weight and I want to, I feel as though I have very little willpower, I gave up on the gym after 2 months last year as it just does not interest me. I have had back problems for the past 2 years so really have to watch what I do as well.
I am not sure where to start, some advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi gem, and welcome to the club.
Like the others, I am sure your dad is just trying to get a positive reaction from you, although it isn't a very nice system; he probably doesn't realise how it hurts. Tell him how you feel when he makes those comments and ask him for practical help, let's see what he has to offer. Maybe he'll have some good idea to help you there.
If you don't like the gym, I am not surprised you quit. Find some sport that you enjoy. For a back with problems, the best is swimming, so I'd advise to join the pool and go at least three times a week even if it's only for ten minutes. It does make a difference. Also when you manage to begin to lose some weight you'll realise your back problems ease off.
Why don't you go to your GP and ask him for a diet plan? You haven't tried any, so it might prove very useful. Do this first: for a week, write down everything that passes your lips every day, including water. Take these notes to your GP. That will show him what you are doing and then he can advise accordingly. And if the problem has nothing to do with the way you eat, he may decide to make you take some tests to see how well your hormones are working. It's all worth it. Hi all,
Just for a long walk with the family, gym is not my thing. I know I need to exercise more so the walk will do me good, it is only me out of the family that needs to loose weight but they are all happily coming on board with it and my kids love the peppers and salad that is in the fridge!!
Well done angel now that is some weight loss!! Well done to each one of you, keep it up, we know we can do it!
I am hoping tomorrow I have lost some, certainly have never cheated!
Bought the slimming world and WW magazines for the first time ever and there are some great recipes in there, going to try pasta with tuna tonight as well aware I do not eat enough fish and that is great for omega 3....
Have a great day everyone xxx0 -
