Advance singles at £18.50 are readily available for the return journey - outward you may have to look a little harder and pay a little more (£30 ish). Still adds up to a lot less than the £88 walkon fare.0 -
A normal return ticket would have been £96.40
Instead I bought 4 single tickets –
Edinburgh to Lancaster £15
Lancaster to Birmingham £25.30
then for my return journey –
Birmingham to Lancaster £9.50
Lancaster to Edinburgh £15
TOTAL: £64.80
so I saved £31.60!!!!
THANK YOU MSE!:j0 -

Im looking to book a train journey for 3 adults from Edinburgh Waverley - Cardiff Central on Fri Aug 22nd returning Sun 24th Aug and im struggling to find a cheap enough fair that will stop me taking the car.
Im all for the green option but i wont be paying £300 when i could take the car for a hell of a lot less.
Any tips or tricks will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

It may be the Sunday return that's the problem - on many routes cheap fares for Sat/Sun come out much later than weekday ones.
Try splitting the journey in London and see if that helps0 -
Hi All
I'm completely new to this split ticketing idea. Can anyone suggest a split ticket from London Kings Cross to Newcastle?
I'll be traveling with my partner and our two young children, aged 4 and 18 months, and we have a Family Railcard if that helps!
Thanks in anticipation0
