If you can book in advance you would be better off getting value singles than ****ing about with split tickets. You should be able to get them for the complete journey.
If not, split at Birmingham New Street, Cheltenham and Bristol - possibly Parkway rather than Temple Meads.0 -
Succefully booked split tickets from Preston to Torquay for 2 people for £103 instead of the £200 odd it would have cost to buy standard tickets!
Did this as a result of reading the MSE article!
Quite chuffed with myself as it was for a present so saved a lot of money for ourselves!!!!0 -
I regularly travel to Glasgow on business.
First I have to get to Crewe on a local train, then I get a Standard Class ticket upto Preston costing £9, then I get a First Class ticket from Preston the rest of the way to Glasgow for £21.
The return is even better, Glasgow to Preston can be as little as £29 First Class. Well worth it.
I usually book via virgintrains.com
First Class gets you free drinks, and snacks, if you get the later trains back, you can get a meal aswell as lots of drinks (including alcohol), although the price rises to about £39.0 -
