Hi guys, I need to get from Leeds to Bournemouth on 16 November leaving after 13:00 and arriving before 19:00
Then returning from Portsmouth to Leeds on 18 November leaving any time after 10am.
Any advice or recommendations on the cheapest way to do this?
Cheers

Leeds to Bournemouth - 13:05 to Kings Cross arriving 15:40, Tube to Waterloo, 16:35 to Bournemouth arriving 18:23 - £27.50 booked as one ticket, more expensive if booked as separate legs. Note this seems to be the standard cost via London
If you can book the 12:10 or 14:10 from Leeds DIRECT to Bournemouth arriving 17:15, 19:15 respectively that goes down to £150 -
Here is a good tip for some members.
Anyone one DLA or Long Term Incap and anyone disabled of course can purchase a Disabled Persons Railcard. 1/3 off standard class and 50% off first class.
Although many people may know about the disabled card im sure not many people who are on Long Term Incap may know that they are entitled to one.0 -
Portsmouth HARBOUR to London Victoria - 10:43 arriving 13:01 : £12.90
Victoria to Leeds - 13:30 arriving 17:50 : £4 by National Express coach. You can get the same fare on the 14:30. That's the cost of getting to KX from Victoria by Tube!!!0 -
Ive been keeping an eye out for cheap fares to london since last month. But could not buy until 10 weeks before we travel, which is this week.
We want to get return tickets to london from manchester, going on the 28th December and returning on the 1st or 2nd of Jan 2008.
However, the cheapest I can find is £59.50. I know thats not expensive, but I have bought this ticket before only a week before I left for London (so it doesnt make any sense why I should pay the same price for booking early?)
Can anyone help?Hi

The problem is that you are too early - just keep checking and the cheaper fares will appear.
Even if they don't that £59.50 is available on the day so you won't lose out.0 -
www.megatrain.com (and www.megabus.com) have fares from £1. From here in Exeter, trains go to Plymouth, Bristol or London Waterloo. The buses go from Exeter to London Victoria. I believe they also go from/to other places as well. Need to book well in advance to get the £1 fares - check the longest return date available and work back from there if timing is not crucial.
Megatrain have told me that fares go on sale exactly 45 days in advance.0 -
Does anyone know the cheapest way to book a ticket from London to Hitchin, i booked a cheap ticket to london and was so mad when i realised i could have booked it to Hitchin for an extra £4 return and the cheapest quote i have so far for London to Hitchin is £26 which makes my cheap ticket seem very dear

Sorry you must be doing something wrong. Buying a full fare single each way from London Kings Cross to Hitchin is £21.80 total - you can't possibly pay more than that. (Well you can - a saver return, off peak, is £22.50, but there's no point in it....)
Unless you've managed to include the underground fare from somewhere else in London as well I can't see how you got £26.
But those are the fares - there's nothing cheaper unless you are returning the same day. (£13 or £14 day return). AFAIK there are no buses any more either.0
