I'm talking about plain business fact.Repeat targeted product with discount is unprofitable.
Oh dear ... Has anyone told you what a charming forum-manner you have?
What concerned me about your post is that you assume that all posters are costing Tesco money ... my argument is that a fraction may be but many are not ...LittleBill ... "The riches of a man can be measured by what he can do without"0 -

True-Most aren't. Which is why I refer to ''serial'' as in those that set out to!Most people overlook opportunity as it comes dressed in overalls, and looks like hard work.0 -

So why go on about it, the few that are the problem should therefore be immaterial in the whole scheme of things.0 -
Tesco claim back the money from the manufacturer's coupons, but not store specific ones from competitors magazines or flyers. As a marketing ploy they have chosen to accept the ' £2 off a £20 ' spend type coupon.albacore1854 wrote:True-Most aren't. Which is why I refer to ''serial'' as in those that set out to!
When I first came on this forum I got very excited about a £5 coupon in the Sainsbury's mag. Regular posters pointed out to me-kindly- that it was counter productive to use these as Tesco would lose money on them, become concerned and then crack down on voucher use, so since then I have stuck to the manufacturer's coupons. Serial coupon use as defined by you as ' setting out to' use them does not cost tesco money although it costs the manufacturers money as we are not buying their product.0 -
Agreed.
I refer to those repeatedly passing ''iffy'' ones, that they are probably aware are borderline for acceptance at best.
I mean, you shouldn't have to ''target'' a favourable shop assistant should you.
And as for multiple low value shops, well I just wish I had the time. Most people overlook opportunity as it comes dressed in overalls, and looks like hard work.0 -

I have only viewed these threads for 6 months or so ... but I do feel that to a great extent these threads actually generate business Tesco through the circulation of information/offers etc ...
I personally am a very conservative shopper ... but even with (genuine) coupon use it seems that many poster's shop far more frequently than would a 'normal' shopper ...
Coupon usage in the scale of Tesco sales is very small and non genuine coupon usage even less ... It would I agree be a shame if Tesco changed their current policy ... but I feel it would more likely be driven by the manufacturers cracking down rather than Tesco's reaction to actual loss ...LittleBill ... sadly you have to deal with idiots everywhereCrabman wrote:Had one coupon refused in T's today due to the extremely complicated wording on my coupon, "Valid until 31st March 2007".
Fear not, this was no policy change at my store, this was due to the checkout girl having the IQ of a dsylexic wombat; here is her reasoning...
"Valid until 31st March 2007" means it's valid from 31st March 2007... :wall:
Stupid eejit
I hate having to correct staff as I do feel bad, but then its not my fault if people are stupid?

Tesco is in a WIN WIN position with manufacturer's coupons, and you're right, it will be the suppliers who will pull the plug if it all gets out of hand!0 -
Does anyone have a formal outline of Tesco's position on coupons? Until there is a common understanding there will always be store specific issues. I have 3 x 20p of coupons here that I won't use as they are for a brand of bread I don't buy, also the reduction would still make it more expensive than my chosen item. Most people overlook opportunity as it comes dressed in overalls, and looks like hard work.0
