    I use coupons and have for many years and it annoys me that people moan about being held up in a queue whilst cashier is scanning them.

    If I stand for 10 minutes whilst a family processes their weekly shop which may fill the belt, how can anyone complain if I have a quarter of a belt of shopping and they have to wait whilst coupons are scanned for less time than the 10 minutes it takes to process the person in front of me's full shopping.

    Just because someone uses coupons it doesnt mean you have to wait longer in a queue than someone who has a full belt of shopping.
    Thanks to everyone who posts comps :T
  • They took my Sainsbury's £2 off a £20 shop today and about 3 other vouchers for items I hadn't purchased totalling about £3.50 in all. So I'm not complaining. I don't think there is a blanket policy yet, but I can bet it's on the horizon. I guess the trick is to not take the p**s and try and do a weeks shop for 20p, like the guy infront of me did!

    I try and pick a cashier who looks friendly and make sure I'm ultra polite and act like I'm ever so gratefull, some times they even ask me if I want to use more of the vouchers that I just happen to have poking out of my otherwise empty looking purse. If I can get away with it I choose a young good looking male cashier and flirt shamelessly, this usually works if you go in in the small hours say 2am-4am when they are bored witless and need the conversation to stay awake. It's a boring job, I know I did it myself.

    At the end of the day, I appreciate the odd 20p off voucher as they say 'every little helps'....but I only go to Tesco because I get the money off otherwise I'd go to ASDA which is much nearer. Does anyone know what their voucher policy is?

    Well we know what sort of people are responsible for any clampdown dont we??? :mad:;

    Those who try to spend £160 in couposn such as the 'hoaxer' in the other thread and other greedy, selfish and sill ypeple.
  • how can tesco profits drop when your arnt paying for the shopping.?

    If they did a "no more coupons " policy, then i doubt it would hit them one bit.

    I only use a few, but i wouldnt shop elsewhere if i couldnt get a £1 off coupon.

    if you do use loads, then tesco would look upon it as a blessing you p**s*d off.

    Why would Tesco's feel happy that the £100 worth of genuine coupons you use, and which they receive a full refund on, feel happy if you shopped at Asda??? I think you may be a bit confused. Unless you are refering to Somerfield vouchers??

  • All the serial RnR, and coupon bods are probably unprofitable for Tesco, it would make sense for them to ''force'' those ''customers'' to rival chains to hamper their P+L, and concentrate their efforts on attracting a different client that yields more.

    The official line at my ASDA (Oadby) is that vouchers are taken for up to 10% of your total bill, but in practice it depends which SA you use as to how obliging they will be. Some have trouble working out 10%!! It is worth a try with a small shop just to check it out, if your ASDA is closer.

    What on earth are you on about!

    I'm talking about plain business fact.Repeat targeted product with discount is unprofitable.
