You are making it sound as if the tories suddenly said police cannot use force. The police have as much power now, as they did under labour.
The respect issue has been building up for years. These people didn't respect any authority 5 years ago, and they don't now.
They didn't 30 years ago if I remember, just seems to go quiet when Labour are in charge, luck of the draw, I guess.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. Whilst I agree that those kind of situations can happen in some families who rely on benefits, there are also umpteem others who have managed to buck the trend...we don't tend to hear about those as it doesn't make good press.
The location is a huge influence too. London, or any other big city, is a great place if you have a bit of spare bit of cash, or if you're a student, or a creative soul, but for your typical 'underclass' what inspiration or motivation can you get from living in the densely populated and deprived areas?
Its not just that horror stories make the best news stories, it is that unfortunately, as time goes on trends are telling us that it is specific types of families living in specific circumstances who are most likely to end up as our future 'problems'.We cannot change anything unless we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses. Carl Jung

Personally, I feel it's a little sad that you are so desperate to lay all of the blame at a political parties feet.
You really think today would be different, simply if labour were in government?
Come on Stevie. Labour and Conservative are saying the same thing on this one. They are all saying they hear the publuc, and that the public want to see force used, but all are saying it's not their job to interfere with the police.
Just put BBC news on. It's the same from MPs from conservatives, lib dems and labour.
Not gonna get involved any more with the party political stuff, and anyway, as you know, I was a lib dem voter, not tory.0 -
You think all those Londoners can be bothered treking down to Ipswich, more likely some of your hometown losers.
I know.....one town starts along the A12 and it travels down.
Plenty of disaffected young people in Ipswich. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

I've sat in courts in towns like Ipswich, but not Ipswich!, many a time with clients from London. I don't see that loading a up a car with mates for a loot is much different to a few of you going in a car to see which houses look empty...it probably also coincides with other reasons to go out there, but I wouldn't know about that.0 -

if you wanted to apply stupid political spin to riots which happen under tory governments, you could claim they were all the result of labour supporters being unable to swallow the fact that they were in the minority and couldnt cope with the party of their choice not being in power and therefore rioting as a result.
after all, the riots always break out in labour supporting areas.0
