I used to live on Cowley Road in the mid/late-80s and I saw a lot of trouble.

Did it ever touch you personally?

unfortunately yes - I ended up with six stitches from one incident, and a chipped tooth from another.

Sorry to hear, and funny you should mention the Cowley road as, although unable to verify, trouble has broken out there.

So I've heard, not seen any yet. I wanted to go to football tonight but I think I might be asking for trouble if I do!

The police facing these low life, uneducated, value void, scum bag, rioters rightly deserve to look forward to holidays and whatever else they have earned during this chaos. I'm with the police on this one, they are between a rock and a hard place... they can't use too much force incase they are sued/investigated later and if they don't they get told that they are ineffective.

I say the police give them 3 warnings, then shoot on sight.

They did and look what happened!

These 'idiots' that are rioting, mere boys caught up in the moment are indeed unemployable, they have been bought up in overcrowded council ghettos with no possible hope of ever getting out, with families often one parent who have been on benefits for most if not all of their lives. Educated in inner London schools where the majority of pupils do not have English as a first language, little hope of a gcse never mind a university placement. 54 applicants to every job advertised according to radio 2 today!

They have no hope, no aspirations, no dreams, in addition if they are seen to buck the system or go against the gangs that are running the riots they and their families will be persecuted.

I am not condoning their behaviour I am merely understanding of the sheer desperation that is their existence.

If you look at the pictures you can see loads of girls in them also.

And as I said before I went and most of my family has been and are educated in schools where some of this looters are.

I bet I can get my younger family members to identify a couple of the people in the pictures if I ask them.

If I ask them whether they went to school they will very likely tell me that this was one of the kids that never turned up.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

They serve no purpose, apart from making decent people's lives a misery, and should just be put down like the sick animals they are.

I hope there are some vigilantes on the streets tonight. Charles Bronson style.

Those police crime maps will take some putting together next month.
