Do you leave lights on overnight?

I always leave 3 lights on at night - the loo in case someone needs to go, the downstairs hall and the front door to put burglars off! With the electricity bills going up i'm wondering if I should turn all but the outdoor light off? The loo has 1 energy saving bulb and the hall has 3 - do you think they would cost me much being on all night every night? DO other people leave lights on at night too?

I have to leave lights on for the little ones. They grow out of it eventually, but I don't like putting them through mental anguish for no reason for the sake of a few pence. They have a flower lamp in their bedroom and then I leave the hallway light (1 energy saver) on. All others are turned off.
I am firmly across the line. I won't impose my values on you if you keep away from mine.

No lights on in our house, I have always wandered around in the dark if I get up in the night... your eyes adjust really quickly and unless you live out in the darkest countryside with no street lighting enough light filters in for you to see . If you want to leave a light on to deter burglars it would be better if it were a living room then at least it looks like someone is still up..

We leave the outside light on. All others turned off, but we don't have little ones.

We leave our kitchen light on for the Hovel dog. He sleeps in the living room next door and a bit of light filters through. We only do this because he will bark if it's completely dark.
Before we had him we never left lights on.

I don't, but my kids are older and we have a window which allows light in from the street. However I think you could probably get away with just the loo light on, and the outside light.

Nope, we leave no lights on. We generally don't leave lights up when we're up though either!

My family think I'm weird because I rarely put lights on in the house especially in the Summer months.. its bright enough unless I want to read etc.. its always "why are you sitting in the dark Mum?"...... :rotfl:

I leave an energy saving bulb on in the bathroom which is not very bright, you can't really read in there!, but I don't think that costs much to run. I'd rather save money with running the washing machine at night or not eating hot food whenever possible in the summer rather than turning the loo light out... that's an important luxury to me.
  • I leave a lamp on. I really don't like the dark. I'm a wimp.
