Sorry about the scrambly mess that was my last post on this thread. I have never worked for Poundworld and never would.
I actually dont go into our local one anymore.
I do think Channel 4 should be made aware of this thread though and especially this page.

Yes this all sounds so familiar! Much more familiar than what that documentary showed. We were once one of the highest earning stores in our county But the manager left and so the manager from another store was sent to our store and its gone downhill ever since. He was lazy and apparently a manipulative liar! He fired just about everyone for not doing there job properly. (They were doing it just fine) he kept some people who did deserve to be fired for various reasons. He would walk out over an hour early then come back just to clock out, this was on top of his hour and a half lunch breaks. I'm lucky to get the 30 minutes. If they see you sitting in the staff room they start giving you filthy looks and make u feel guilty about sitting down! The last manager told us all we had 32 hour contracts ready and on the post turns out he lied. He sent me on holiday and during that time I should of been getting paid 32 hours but we shall see. One women came back from the same promise after her holiday to find out she had only been paid £30! She ended up quitting on the spot as they couldn't do anything about it. They called a bunch of people to help the store and cancelled my holiday. The area managers treat everyone like dirt. We do the best we can. I personally work on tills and shop floor. When I'm on the tills though some of the abuse we get off customers is disgusting. I have literally served 5 year olds better mannered than them. They think because its a pound shop that's all the staff are worth! And there's no back up or support from the managers. I just hope we get a nice new manager like the first one we had. He used to sit down and have staff meetings every other morning before we opened. He didnt just have a go about everything negative he praised the good and offered advice, he asked politely for us to do things. I mean were gonna do what the managers say anyways so what's the harm in them asking nicely! There's so much negativity to rant about. The poor supervisors aswell they are doing the managers job and having to take all the slack without getting a managers wage! Iv seen one supervisor in tears because of how much pressure goes on behind closed doors. Iv also been accused of stealing. People were swapping tills and now it's believed the manager was the one taking money and he sat there and accused me, made me out to be a criminal which could have ruined any future careers for me!i just wish we could say this stuff to the area managers or get the message across to someone higher without getting fired! If u ask anything or stick up for yourself they fire u on the spot! What's the point in that. If I had another job to go to I would. I'm surprised this business is family run. Because it just isn't as friendly as they make out rant over! Man after just 4 months I needed that lol
