What puzzled me more than anything was the state off the 'staff' room. What's wrong with the staff keeping it clean and as for the mouldy bread on the floor, why doesn't someone pick it up, it's not rocket science.
Actually a really good point, why aren't the staff looking after their own areas? Random.0 -
What I can't understand is how can the till be down £60 in only a few hours  I wish he had of been around to serve me!!0

firstly news flash for the director of poundworld. your stock is cr*p. this is the first time i have watched this and i thought what a load of bo**ocks. the way he acted and talked it was obvious he wasnt someone sent there on a skivvy scheme. i would have twigged he was a boss straight away. it was nice that they paid for a holiday for them but what about the rest of the people who work for poundworld around the country who were watching who have low morale also. what will it do to their morale seeing a handful of workers being favoured like that while they get nothing.0

I'm afraid you must remain intrigued as some things aren't for public consumption.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -
yes they get something on their cv but if the thing on your cv isnt worth much then it makes little difference. yes it shows you worked for nothing. you need something that shows you were so worthwhile that they were willing to pay you a wage. if they arent paying you then they dont care if you arent very good. you need to be able to demonstrate to potential employers that you are competent. a placement were you were forced and were you were only taken because you were free doesnt do that. No, the employee gains they have something on their CV to say they worked for nothing. If they put the right spin on that and say they would rather do that than be out of work they have just gone 2 steps forward to getting a job in my eyes.
voluntary work with a charity can sometimes help. forced free labour with a private company is unlikely to help.0 -
the staff dont clean it themselves because they would probably have to do it in their break time. what it shows us is profit is put ahead of cleanliness. the manager should ask someone to spend a bit of time once a week cleaning it up. they could have a rota and take turns. What puzzled me more than anything was the state off the 'staff' room. What's wrong with the staff keeping it clean and as for the mouldy bread on the floor, why doesn't someone pick it up, it's not rocket science.
The staff taking breaks at the front of the shop, this happens all the time now since the government brought in the no smoking rule. It's up to the employer to make sure staff don't loiter outside the front of the shop smoking, it looks terrible, but where do they go? outside the next shop in the street? Surely it would be better if they went to the back of the premises.
If the staff room looked like that, I'd hate to see the toilets.

I knew that guy wasn't going to get sacked. Instead they send him on holiday.
Lets see if I get a holiday if I do the same. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
When I worked at Superdrug back in the 80's (when I was 16 yrs old) BEFORE bar codes and the like when we had to key in all the prices by hand if our tills were over a £1 short or over more than 3 times we got sacked. Some of Poundworlds policies regarding the balancing of their tills and clocking in are taking their workers below the NMW. And a staff member walked out of a meeting so they stopped the 5 minute breaks of other staff members. What a nasty company.0
