When I travel on trains and on the motorway, I do see many properties with conservatories backing onto these.

Why enhance the ugly backdrop to your garden?

A conservatory blocks out the noise vs sitting in the garden.

So where does the person in bedroom 4 wash? (Am loving the fact that it's still called "new house" despite being built in 1976 as well):

    It's inhabited by ten ants.

Also the guitar and Bob Marley poster indicate that room in picture 7 may have a... distinct smell.

I once lived in a New House Farm, which was constructed in the 19th century, so 1976 is pretty new by those standards.

Once named, houses may never be re-named, though one near me was called "Little Shanty" until that ceased to be quaint, somewhere in the late 80s/early 90s, I think. :)

They occupy one of the other three bedrooms or use the WC off the entrance hall. Bedroom 4 is used as a study, not a bedroom. I expect there are other people who seek houses with a specific number of bedrooms knowing they want fewer actual bedrooms and would, in any case, use one or more as a study/office.

So it's a 3 bedrooms + a study house, and not "4 double bedrooms" then.

Sorry to be pedantic - I am actually interested in this house, but find the bathroom arrangements a little strange. I'd have to rejig bed 3 / bed 4 / bathroom to have a "family" bathroom.

It was built by the current owners. If they wanted a study, they should have made room for it downstairs. Obviously, 37 years ago they were probably not planning what they were going to do today.

There is another way to get a family bathroom, is to put a door where the shower is in bed 3's en-suite and extend the ensuite to halfway along the window wall and rejig the layout of the new bathroom. Bed 3 will be then referred as Bed 4 as its smaller. Don't ask me how much it will cost to move a door, knock down and build another wall and rig the bathroom layout.

If you want a study, then use that area to the left of the lounge and knock the door wall down so you have a window.

That's exactly what we would do. :D
