The midges aren't too bad on the east coast, it's the west coast where they're savage :)

It disappeared immediately after the auction last time as well and then popped up a few weeks later somewhere else - Harman Healy I think. I'll keep my ear to the ground anyway.

My guess is that the land is worth a bit, but the house is a liability.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
  • Would you buy this:

No, not the clutter, the layout - never seen anything so impractical

And the price! You can buy a "proper" 2 bed for that money in that location
  • :rotfl::rotfl:....translated as "Do make sure you're wearing your headgear - whoops I daresay you will be anyway....particularly if you're a woman....". If only your eyes are on show then there aint gonna be much there for a midge to find to bite....;)

Make that "...and don't forget your thermal underwear"...

Why do you think it will have been bought by someone wearing a burka? Seems like a strange assumption to make. :(
People with millions to spare are far more likely to buy a Highland estate with shooting and fishing and their own loch than a big house in Wick. ;)
Midges - I lived on the west coast of Scotland, I used to get eaten alive. I must be especially
tasty because I have the same problem with mozzies.
SIL lived on the east coast and I was usually ok when I visited.

Midges are our secret weapon... We release them in the tourist season to stop too many people deciding they want to move up here. :shhh::whistle::D.

The Midges are really not as bad as people make out. We had a glorious summer last year while the rest of the country was drowning and we ate outside every evening (right by the sea). They are only active for very short periods and if tourists insist on fishing by a loch or burn on a still day after the rain they will get eaten alive. The locals know better. ;)
Anyway. A small price to pay for living in a place with one of the lowest population densities, the most stunning scenery in the uk and thanks to the low population and pollution we have the rarest and most exciting wildlife in the UK. :D

I love the way they mention the wonderful schooling. Problem is where do you park your children in that cottage?

Wouldn't consider second one due to location & listing, but the first looks good. Nice aspect, but not perfect, now I look again. However, few are.

It's in Tamerton Foliot. (Sorry to the OP if that's where you're from, but I wouldn't personally bet on that area as a good long-term buy).

The land's worth very little, it's rough shooting ground, it's two separate areas rather than one big parcel and it's the other side of the A99 to the house.

Hmm, okay then, but I really can't see what anyone is going to do with a listed 20 bed house, though.

You don't have sheep, do you? :)

Just take it from me that you're endowing them with somewhat greater intellectual ability than they normally possess. ;)
