I don't know the area. However........

....I can go off places quite quickly! :rotfl:
Ah-ha. Thanks for that:T
I've just scanned a couple of addresses through that for flood risk and both were confirmed to be exactly as I had expected.
Mine is at "low risk" - as anticipated:D
Errrm...I scanned a good friends house - and its down as "High risk" - also as anticipated.:(
So it checked out for those two properties and I've got another tool I can use to ensure that I stay "low risk" when I move. Wonder what address I can use to check out and see if anywhere comes up as "no risk", though I understand that the best anyone will say about any British property is "low risk" these days, even if it's up the top of a mountain.
Yay - checked out the House I Most Want (IF he can solve his problem he has) and I'd stay low risk if I get that. Good-o. Still on for that one if possible then.0 -
the sheep in pic 8 are like what the H*LL?

I am feeling rather pleased with myself - I took a second look at the picture, because I wanted to check the sheep.
Then it came to me, "this was built as a cement factory in the 1930s, right down to the flat roof and the Atlantic liner railings".
Then I checked the text. Don't know how it would work as a home though.
[nor does the market, it has been reduced nearly 40% ? - not sure the small developers response of "we can always rent it out", works for this one.]
I think the new millennium architect has preserved a piece of history and probably will win a prize.
I wonder how they got it through the modern environmental/sustainable regulations? Aero gel?
Anyone recognise this:

Even South Essex has this, however it is not in its original setting; having been given the benefit of two lots of flood defences, the first in front. and then an enhancement to the rear following the construction of the Thames Barrier.
The walls are almost "eggshell" thin.
Anyone seeing these buildings as the road to the Sydney Opera House could well be right.0 -

It wasn't just that - more that it's being steadily encroached on by Plymouth - and to get anywhere you have to pass through some not-so-great areas.
Nice flood risk tool though, thanks. (My house comes up as low risk, yay. House we moved from a few years ago was high risk!)They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
Even the EA couldn't be bothered to list it properly.
-Five/Six Bedrooms - Two Bedrooms - Kitchen/Diner - Lounge - Requires Full Modernisation - Rear Garden - No Chain - Driveway for two cars - Call Now To View!
How many bedrooms is that?
Sorry not very good at doing Rightmove links so have borrowed this post to try and link you up again.
Well just to let you know, I did a "drive-by" today.
It's a nice enough location but - it's on a fairly busy road on the one way system and smack bang on a very sharp bend, so access could be an issue. That plus the likelihood that it is listed means I think I'll pass on this one.
There will be another one out there somewhere with my name on it. There's always a wreck that needs rescuing.:D0 -

Yes, I got an idea of the urban encroachment from its Wiki:
"Tamerton Foliot was a village and is now a dense suburb in the north of Plymouth."
I haven't used the flood tool on my own place. If I'm flooded, something approaching Biblical proportions will be going on!0 -

Ah, makes sense not to go for it then LessonI'm sure with your career history you'd be the first to advise that compromises inevitably have to be made, but in this instance the listed status, coupled with road/access issues definitely sound like one compromise too far.......seems like a wise decision to me!

It's a very beautiful, peaceful area with a stunning creek that feeds from the Tavy into the Tamar and an area of special scientific interest.

I can't say I'm all that thrilled with the layout of the place. What a stupid place to put a back door........ Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0
