    Agh! Yellow!

Personal thoughts - "not safe enough for someone from my part of the country" (ie that stepped wall in the back garden - as we would tend not to use it - even for "ornamental" purposes). Yep - soft Southerner alert LOL.

Imagine it's a bit dear for the part of the country it's in???

You wouldn't have liked our house in its previous incarnation, Money, lol :rotfl: Until recently - I've spent the Summer re-painting the twenty Windows and seven of the eight doors - it was a rather fetching shade of yellow - as chosen by the PO. Still not quite finished and then there's the garage Windows and door to tackle :o

I think that one's a rather sweet little cottage - or would be once it has been sympathetically restored. The garden looks too small for our requirements, although again it seems to have potential as it has plenty of character! The position/lack of sunlight would probably rule it out if I were looking in that area though.....

I'd say that sitting at the bottom of a steep, north-east facing slope, almost any price is too high. After all,it won't see much sun from now till next March....

But geography is only an optional subject these days, so who knows? ;)

We don't get much sun round these parts anyway! 😂

Add to the house price an SAD light or two then....:rotfl:.

Thoughts turning to "added extras" needed according to what part of the country one is living in:).

Make that boots, walking boots and indoor interests for the winter where I am then.....and it's vital to have a good Internet connection.

Yes, I know you can only see 3 floors, but the EA assures me this is a 5 storey property...

What they don't mention is the traffic. It is the A6 busy at the best of times but summer weekends it is solid, how the traffic noise bounces off the cliff side I don't know.
If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.

Well, yes, 1200 hours p.a. as against about 1600 where I am, but surely that's an argument for grabbing as much as possible?

Many people don't recognise being affected by SAD. I didn't, until I came to live here, in an open position 500' up; not a position I'd have consciously sought. Now, I wouldn't go back to valley shelter (and frost pockets) without something else by way of compensation.

I would call it 4 (cellar/ground/1st/2nd), but just because the loft is boarded it's a bit of a stretch to call it 5!

You had me googling there Dave - and it wasnt to any very positive effect:(. I'd just vaguely thought "why does it feel greyer?" and yep....121 hours pa greyer than I'm used to. So - round about 20 extra days per year when I'm expecting to look out at a sunny day - and there isn't one.:( I was wondering about the quality of the light feeling harsher too some time back and dismissing it as my imagination - and was told it actually isnt as "soft" as I'm used to. I gather I have to use paints with a bit of a "glow" to them on my house - in order for the colour to look the same as normal.

You've got me pondering on that - and I can feel an Amazon google coming on....wondering about SAD lights...

OTOH, where you live now has better air quality, while a fresher Atlantic climate probably serves people better than the dreamy feel of the air in southern English cities, whether they think so or not!.
