I do like thatched cottages. Though - I wouldnt touch them with a bargepole - courtesy of fire risk/insurance stuff.

But - I do see something Dave - unless I'm much mistaken - there is a pylon over in nearby field...(ie at the least - not the view one would expect).

Yes there's power lines a few hundred metres away, but probably not very visible if one isn't taking a drone's view.......

Nothing especially scary, but it's a long trek to the loo in the night for your £350k!

It certainly is! I'm doing a lot of browsing atm as I'm hoping to downsize within the next couple of years, and that's definitely a situation to avoid. I think I could probably live quite happily without an en suite, but would need to have a loo available at least on the same floor!

I agree Money - I wouldn't want the hassle / insurance issues of thatch either (not to mention all the extra creatures that must lurk in there) - it looks very picturesque on other people's houses though :)

Our last house was thatched. I'd always said "never" too, but was tempted by the gorgeous garden and the potential the house offered. Although we're used to tackling projects DIY-style, that one was a killer and I never did feel the love for the thatch. Hated the smell too!

Insurance-wise it wasn't too bad actually, but I always worried about chimney fires - not without reason as it happened as we did suffer one a few months before we sold. Managed to extinguish it ourselves luckily ;) No more thatches for me though!

Gosh, yes that loo is a bit of a trek from the bedrooms. Currently we're without a bathroom on the second floor where our bedroom is situated. Having been used to an ensuite in our last three houses it's an inconvenience, but not the end of the world. Going up and down our steep stairs several times a night is good exercise for me, lol!

Love that Harry Enfield clip, Dave :rotfl:

En-suites are handy for visitors. If they have one, they're often not seen till lunchtime! ;)

Is it just me or does the glass banister thingy on the stairs make you cringe too?

To err is human, but it is against company policy.

    Definitely ;)

That said, compared to the similarly grey house in Coventry (upthread), this one looks tastefully done - if not to my personal taste!

the 1.8 million price tag might have something to do with it compared to 280k.
