It doesn't seem too bad if you consider the "hall" to be the dining area of a dining kitchen. I don't know why they have chosen to label it the way they have.0

I've seen a few hallways described at useable rooms! Ok, they've closed this hallway off with a door, but can a bedroom really be called such if it is the stairway?!

I think what happened in that case is its a 2 bedroom bungalow basically and that "room" with stairs in is being called a bedroom because it used to be one (ie until the stairs were put in it).
Reason for stairs - they wanted to convert the loft into an extra room. They've tried hard not to lose the one they had in the process and are also trying hard to proclaim the loft loo as an "en suite" - but the plan only seems to show loo and washbasin (ie no shower or bath).
I'd be a little bit flummoxed as to what to do with that house. I guess put up the wall again between kitchen and conservatory and just have a door in the wall for access to the conservatory. Knock the kitchen through into that "room" with stairs in - as it's such a small kitchen that it needs to increase in size.0 -
It seems weird to have a toilet in a utility room (pic 20). I suppose it's handy for towels.frugalsmurf wrote: »It's a shower room too.
In other countries the bathroom is a normal place for washing machines to live. It's not as if there's any obvious logic in putting them in the kitchen.0 -

I always think washing machines would be better upstairs as you bring clothes downstairs, wash them, dry them then take them upstairs (may be I'm lazy !)0 -

Our first house had that. It was really sensible and convenient.
Saw one place that had a bathroom and a shower room but only one had a W.C.
I could see the point. When everyone's clamouring to get ready to go out it's baths that take the most time. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
I was part of the school exchange programmes in both France and Germany. Both penfriends' homes, the washing machine and, in one case, a freezer was in the outhouse, which was next to the front door. So could do the washing and not hear it. A friend's penfriend had her washing machine in a cupboard in the hallway.
In the USA and Canada, its common practice to put the washing machine and tumble drier in the basementThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
