As regards the lack (or not) of a clause that says they reserve the right to claim back gym membership, is there not a clause that says that it is a twelve month contract? And hence, if you refuse to pay back 6 months of gym membership, can they simply refuse to let you cancel the contract?
  • Sorry to sound a bit thick, but just to confirm, it's nothing to pay whatsoever for 6 months other than the PHI premium, but then £25 a month on top of the PHI premium for the second 6 months to continue the Cannons membership?

    hi,

i wanted to clarify that point, which is why i emailed them about it and this is the reply i got -

"All members who take up a PruHealth membership do not have a time limit set to them. While you do sign a contract it is not necessarily for more or less than a year. Members can cancel their PruHealth policies at any time and there is no additional charge or penalty fee for cancellation. The only payment required is for the period that members have health cover. However, if members joining have had access to a Vitality offer where they have received free six months gym memberships we reserve the right to ask members cancelling their policies to refund us the cost of these membership fees.

When members cancel their PruHealth policy we require a 30 day notice period of their cancellation. However, if members wish to cancel their policy within the first 30 days of the beginning of the policy they can do so with no notice period."

so it's not a 12 month contract per se, because you are entitled to cancel it and not pay the remaining months.

mobfant, it would be a good idea to email / call them about this...because even i have heard contrasting information about the scheme.
  • First post in these forums so be gentle...

This afternoon I went through the quote via quidco.com, filled in all my bank details and I've not received any email notification of success? Did anyone else get an email saying it had been successful?

I've now just been on the pruhealth website and there is no mention of Holmes Place!! I'm gutted, and now I'm not sure what to do as I'm not sure if they have received my payment details and accepted my insurance, or if they will still honour the Holmes Place deal of £25 /month.

I only did this because I wanted a cheap way of going to this particular Holmes Place as my partner goes to the same gym and it's a another good excuse to see each other in the evenings :)

Do you think it's best to sit tight or to phone up? I downloaded the .pdf as recommended after the application for insurance was completed.

Got my membership card in the post this morning after signing up last Thursday. Called up Pru to get my gym membership & they said I have to take my Pru membership details to the gym, get a form from the gym then call up Pru again to get my gym membership activated.

A bit annoying & time consuming but will do this tomorrow,

    Hi,

can you confirm with branch of gym you are joining? jjb/cannons? as I suspect this may be different depending on which.

    thanks
  • *fingers crossed it was Holmes Place*

Did anyone get an email through to confirm there quote was successfully applied for? I've heard nothing since Monday.

Quidco's main page now has the Pru Health deal as its special offer. Seems also to include 6 months free gym AS WELL AS £125. Amazing.
  • just a quick one to say i nearly signed up for this, but spotted at the last minute a clause saying that children are not allowed in on the adult membership - no good if you are a mum like me who wanted to use it to take your kids swimming!
