  • The thing with all gyms is that they don't tell you their fees on the website because

    a) Different locations command different fees

    and

    b) They want you to go in so they can give you the hard sell

You'll be lucky if you can even get them to tell you over the phone.

Whereabouts does it say that? The actual policy t&cs says nothing like that - the only relevant section that I can see states:

It says it in the T&C's on the website when you link to the vitality offer.
  • If you access the Pruhealth website via Paypal, you can claim an additional £50 cashback credited to your Paypal account.

When you log into your account, there is a link saying up to 15% off e-shopping (or something similar), find the Pruhealth link and click on it! It definately works inconjunction with the cut-price Gym offer - both offers are advertised together on the first link.

Found this out too late - now getting my Canon's gym membership for £25 a month - thanks to MONEYSAVINGEXPERT.COM!!!
  • The 5000 Nectar points offer also works with the gym membership, I signed up for Pru-Health on Tuesday and the points were on my Nectar card by Thursday!

  • Just an update from me:

Got my welcome pack stuff through today. Didnt notice and direct mention of the free 6months gym membership so I gave Pru a ring to ask how I go about activating it etc. Basically as mentioned earlier in this thread just a case of going to local gym (Cannons in my case) taking PruHealth membership card then filling out the gyms own documents (T&Cs etc) then giving PruHealth a call back when this is done to activate the gym membership.

I asked about what happens if I was to cancel after 6 months and would I be penalised in any way? the response was:
"How can I put this... should you wish to cancel your policy after 6 months after having taken advantage of the free gym membership offer, PruHealth does reserve the right to request these fees back"
    Something along those lines.

As my premium is only £16 a month and I've also gone via quidco(£125 woo) I actually end up being £1 up after 6 months. Depending on how the gym goes I may carry on with it to get the reduced rate, but if I do want to cancel I will probably leave it 2 or 3 months. This will hopefully allow a bit of a cooling off period after which I hope they wont try get the gym fees back off me!!? So worse(ish) case scenario meaning I've only paid roughly £50 out for the 6months gym membership which is acceptable.

Three days. I applied online on the Monday night and got the stuff through on the Thursday morning.
  • Just spoken to AXA Insurance on the phone and apparently their 6 months free LA Fitness scheme is still applicable until the end of Feb. I did have to ask for it and mentioned Pruhealth to them, but it was offered.
One catch was that AXA do seem to tie you in to a 12 month contract to them. My quote with AXA was £25.21 per month with free gym for 6 months. There is also a £25 admin charge for instating the LA Fitness membership.
This should probably be added to the main page on the gym loopholes.....

    Thanks,

    Andy Winbourne
  • I just rang Holmes Place and Pruhealth to check out which would offer me the better deal.

Holmes Place £72 per month and I can use most clubs
Pruhealth £72 per month with membership and health insurance but I would only be able to use one gym!
