Just how bad can parents get?

How horrible to make such quick judgment... Maybe that girl spent the night at her mum unexpectedly, and as it was so nice yesterday, she didn't have warm clothes and rain cover. Maybe she woke up this morning and her baby had a fever. Called the doctor who told her she could see her baby in 10 minutes.... she was running in the rain for her appointment with baby, hoping that she is ok....
Pathetic to jump to conclusion knowing nothing of the circumstances...
AGAIN!
So why was the Mother wearing a kagool with the hood up?
I do exercise rational judgements!0 -
possible reasons for wearing a coat with the hood up......
1. baby pulls her hair. My neice used to do this as a comfort thing, its not uncommon is it. Most of the time its gentle but a bit annoying, and really messes up your hair.
2. she might have curly/frizzy hair which reacts abnormally to rain and just wanted to look ok when at the shop/whereever she was going.
3. pockets..I'm guessing with a baby tied on to your bag a handbag is awkwarkd. I wore a jacket yesterday just to put keys and wallet in, and sweated horrifically underneath it, despite the grim skies and persistant rain
4. those frames might rub, and a tine layer that would provide a buffer without bulk/heat might stop the mother getting sore.0 -
I have plenty of empathy thank you.I save it for babies and children that are really being abused and neglected, not just wrapped up in cotton wool and bubble wrap. Just because it was raining doesn't mean it was cold. You wouldn't have known that if you were indoors. You also had no way of knowing where she was going, if she was going home to change the baby or if the baby had taken their hat off and lost it as many babies do.So why would the Mother wear protection?
Does she also bath it, and not bother to dry it, because it's August?
Will the child spend he rest of the day in sodden clothes, because she was going out somewhere?
Like I say, no empathy.
Still next time you see a baby that you think is being badly treated why don't you get on the phone to social services. I'm sure they'll be delighted.0 -
Sitting in my armchair this morning (disability
) and it was raining outside, as I could see through my sitting room window.
Then a woman walks past, with her kagool on and the hood up .... with one of those back frames on, that contained a baby est 6 - 9 months old, with no coat on, and no head protection either.
Just how little regard do some people have for people other than themselves these days? But for babies? Animals behave better than this.
Next time you see a mother (loose term) out in the cold, with a baby in a pushchair and nothing on it's feet give them a reminder that sitting in a pushchair doesn't generate warmth like walking does.
Rain isn't necessarily cold. Depends on the month. To be honest, for a baby that age, they may like the feel of luke warm water on their head. In fact, covering them up in this heat could be bad for them. What next, that they can't walk on the grass without shoes on. What a bizarre post.Forever I will sail towards the horizon with you0 -

Well, perhaps she didn't want to get her hair wet? Do you do everything exactly the same as a child?
Why do kids go in the sea while their parents sunbathe?
Why do kids like swings and parents prefer benches?
Why do kids run around on the grass barefoot while mums wear flipflops?
I won't let my daughter stay in because it rains. So long as she has a shower when she gets back she can get as wet and mucky as she likes.Forever I will sail towards the horizon with you0 -

There seems to be a galaxies of what ifs going around in your imagination.
Summer rain is just lovely. Very calming and therapeutic.Forever I will sail towards the horizon with you0 -

You're probably right!
If it bothers the OP that much, and she thinks it's sooo awful and the child is in danger etc, then she should report it instead of moaning about it on a forum without the full facts of the situation.
Maybe it was sunny when she headed out, started to rain, and realised she hadn't packed anything for the child but found that her own rain jacket was still stuffed in a bag she had with her. Or, it was the only one available at a nearby shop, and the child refused to wear it. Maybe she had a rain jacket for the child, and the child just kept wriggling free from it. Who knows?
The woman may have a legitimate reason for why she was protected from the rain and her child wasn't. Or she might not. But how the OP thinks she can tell that from just looking at her, I don't know.
And if she feels it isn't bad enough to report, then why bother mentioning it at all?
I know I'm in Holland, but the climate is pretty similar here and it's been raining on and off all week. Has it been cold? No. In fact, it was pouring down on my way home last night and I actually took my rain jacket off as it was still so bl00dy humid, I needed the rain to cool me down a little bit.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
