  • Hey guys, not done too badly this weekend, except i forgot to weigh myself! DOH! i have walked places instead of taking the bus, i usually take the bus one stop to get from mr s too home, over this weekend i have calculated 40 mins of walking, i have stuck to having meals and only skipped breakie on sat, as i had a job to complete, instead of buying something, i drank my premade ribena, the low fat one and waited until i got home, have made a home made potatoe salad, using light mayo and tzatziki for a twist and it is lovely, have also made some home made coleslaw and will be having fajitas and salad for lunch 2mo, am goin g out in the evening.

Thank you for the advice Occy.

I took an apple to the cinema instead incase I got hungry. I'm not adverse to treating myself, but yesterday I had an apple crumble waiting for when we got home ( a little celebration for getting under the 10k mark on our debts), so that is why i said no to snacks at the cinema.
Last night I had a little slump (a sugar come down after desert?) but I didnt do what I would normally do and binge, so I'm really proud of myself.

    Afternoon

I've been pondering the challenge and have realised that I need to mix and match too if I'm going to get anywhere.

I've also decided to go metric and I make the channel just over 35km - is this right?

My local pool is 25m long so I need to swim 40 lengths to cover 1km _pale_ . I'm going to have a go at this tomorrow though I've never done more than 25 before. Well it's a challenge isn't it?

I'm also counting walking and today I walked to town and back which I'm calling 2km as I'm sure it's at least this.

So 2km to report so far.

Diet and motivation still fine and looking forward to weighing in on Weds.
Hope everybody is having a good week.

    Hi

Maybe not the correct thread but I'm asking the correct people :-)
What are the similarities between a money diet and food diet?

Food diet clubs for weekly support like weight watcher seem to work, and appear to appeal to mainly women.
Money diets? well people are more willing to talk about there sex lives than there fiances according to one report!

Both require good daily habit that don't show immediate benefits, it the long term pay back that you need the support to reach:-)

So what are the similarities between a food diet (weight loss) and money diet (budget)?

    Kind regards
    Giles

Maybe the one common factor is that both of these are difficult. If they were easy we'd all be slim and solvent!

Some people need the mutual support of 'all in it together', not battling on your own, and this can bring success and sharing of difficulties, encouragement, motivation.

    Hi Fred

    STS this week!!

Oh well:o. Must try harder. Ive only got 3 weeks to bikini and my Bikini Body seems to be eluding me at the moment.

I'll have a go at the 5lb this month. (Still need to lose 9 though:mad:)

Ive decided that when I do go away, Im not going to go daft, because I know that I can lose or maintain my weight. (Ive done it before).

Well done on all your loses and STS and for those of you that have gone up a bit, dont worry, its the start of a new week.

    Hi

I find that with both money and weight it is fairly easy to 'behave' for a certain amount of time and then get discouraged, either through boredom/lack of motivation to see it through or external factors. It takes willpower to see it through (hark at me!).

I'm quite disciplined with money because I have to be but I often let all kinds of things knock me off a diet, mainly self-pity and I suspect a fear that when I have sorted my weight problem I'll have to address other issues i.e it's my cosy familiar problem and beyond is unknown!

With money diets you are more prone to circumstances you can't control ie unforseen bills, despite planning, whereas if you do get invited to an unforseen event where there's food you don't have to eat.
So I think loss of control over a food diet is usually voluntary (with me anyway) whereas with a money diet 'stuff will happen'.

Well I did it, I swam 40 lengths (1km). I've never swam that distance before and am wondering what havoc it's going to wreak on my body! I also walked to and from the pool which I'm calling another 1km so that's 2 km for today.

To top it all I just made the kids a cake without eating ANY of the cake mix. That is also a first.
Later on I will be testing my willpower by watching The Great British Bake-Off - cakes by proxy!

Hope everybody has has a good day.

Today I have another test, we're going to the cinema. I always eat at the cinema but today I will resist, why do we feel the need to graze during a movie?

I don't think I've sat through one film at the cinema in the last 15 years without a bag of salty popcorn

Me too - hopefully we can't put wait on by looking at them :A

Walked home from work today instead of taking the bus - should have at least 4 miles on the clock when I check in tomorrow with my distance! :T

I wonder how far I travel in 1 Zumba class?
