    Hi Vicky!

Thanks for the warm welcome, really appreciate it. I feel like I have a marathon to run(!) in respect of weight loss but Im hoping with the training will come weight loss.

Im off to Morocco to a 5* hotel and I cant wait to sit by the pool and have beauty treatments...It'll be my first ever holiday so I want it to be special :)

I too am an awful runner, so much so I deferred my place from last year...I couldnt even leave the hotel room on the day because I let my weight get in the way. So I refuse to fail again this year.

When do people weigh? Im an odd cookie, I can lose 6lbs in 2 days then put it all back on in the following 2days, think weekly would be better. I do like to jump on the scales everyday just to keep me on the right track as I can easily stray....

Best thing to do nat is to pick a time and just weigh in once a week.
We have a weekly chart if you want to go on that and we also have a wee mini challange to loose 5 lbs in a month.

    Hey Everyone,

Busy over here today! :D Feels like old times, lol!

Mandz - That is exactly my problem! I start the day with great intentions, but always slip up later in the day.

Welcome to the thread Nat! :j Do you think that you can go for a more relaxed approach to dieting, such as an 'eat less, move more' attitude, or SW (eat as many 'free foods' as you want). Or do you (like me!) need tighter control of your diet and set rules, such as calorie or carb counting?

If you go for calorie counting, there are a couple of links on the first page that will help you to calculate how many cals you should eat each day. The chart goes up on a wed night so a lot of us weigh in that day, but you can do any day you want and it will still make the chart. You don't have to post your weight if you don't want to, just your loss/gain.

Thanks Elly! 'Cheap and cheerful' is my favourite kind of recipe!!! :D I have everything but the rice, so will have a go at that tomorrow.

Alliwant, I'm with you! I definitely need a good kick up the bum, and really do need to get back into it. I've done pretty well today, but don't know how long it will last.

Well I hit my 5-a-day today (6, actually!), which is the first time I've done that in a while. Could have had more (and resisted that Freddo bar :o), but I've not really felt like eating much today (Which is sooooo not like me! :D:D:D).
I'm feeling a bit better today - still doped up on cold and flu tablets though so I only feel really poorly when it's about time for my next hit, lol. I also brushed the cobwebs off the exercise bike and have been hopping on it throughout the day - managed 14km! Quite suprised by that figure, but I guess lots of little sessions really add up over the course of the day. Will do that again tomorrow as I'm in for most of the day. I wonder how long this will all last?

    Lolly! Hiiiiiii!

Yep, relaxed dieting. If I do a strict diet I fall off the wagon in a few weeks so I think I'll watch what I eat and step up the exercise. Im going to have to eat a lot of carbs whilst training but for now I'll just watch my junk consumption.

Stepped on the scales this morning...3lbs lighter than yesterday! (and I still ate 2 handfulls of quality street!!)

    Hello all

We're just back from a weekend away - went for the last steam weekend of the year on the Wensleydale Railway. http://www.wensleydalerailway.com/

Someone mentioned that I'm doing the Dukan Diet. Yes, I am. Have a look: http://www.dukandiet.co.uk/

When to weigh, someone mentioned? Well, with Dr Dukan you weigh daily and report in. Sounds a bit like school, or the army? Well, with me it has acted as an incredible help to keep on the straight-and-narrow.

The little hotel we stayed in at Leeming Bar is being refurbished and our room had recently been re-carpeted, even the bathroom. I took my scales with me to weigh every morning, but the scales don't work on carpet. I resorted to putting them into the shower cubicle and weighing in there. It seemed to work OK. DH took the laptop so I could report in each morning.

Without this incentive - bit like going to confession if you're a Catholic - I might have blown it completely. On Sunday morning we went to a historic old church, St Gregory's, Bedale, which is still a living community, and the service included a christening. One of the choir-girls had organised a coffee morning the day before in aid of Pudsey Bear and at coffee after church on Sunday she still had a lot of things to sell - scones, cakes, you name it. I gave her a donation because I believe in encouraging the young when they try to do things, but I explained that we couldn't eat any of those lovely things. And also the Fairtrade stall - things I used to love, yogurt-covered raisins, free trade chocolate, apricot and cereal bars. And we went to the Black Sheep Brewery at Masham where they have a bistro, many of the dishes are made with Black Sheep beer and they're lovely.

The Dukan Diet is NOT a quick fix. I am losing weight, but slowly. It would probably be quicker if I could be a lot more active than I am.

Managed another 30 lengths of the pool today - could well have been more, I let my mind wander and lose count - then always go for the lower option so that I am not cheating :o

A bit better on the food front today - at least I have managed not to eat any cake!

About 3 weeks ago I ordered a Groupon voucher for myself and OH for 7 bootcamp sessions. Been so busy with DD wedding didn't book them and just remembered about it today. Looking out at the wet and windy weather we are having in the North I am beginning to regret this impulse purchase, but I am determined not to waste them and will book myself in tomorrow.

Good luck with the weigh in tomorrow everyone.

  • Grrrr! Stayed the same again this week. Big disappointed, as that it 2 weeks on the trot that I have STS and I have another 7lbs to lose to get my BMI in the healthy range. Did a long 4 mile walk too at the weekend. BUT I won't give up, I'll keep at it!

    68.3 kg today. That's - 0.3 kg down on a week ago.

Actually I'm a bit stuck. I've been 68.3 kg for several days now. But that's how it goes.
