Nissan Micra - Opinions Please

I am looking to buy a new car for my Mum and don't have much experience in this game.

I have seen a Nissan Micra 1.2 N-Tec 2010(10), 10,000 miles, 5dr Auto, MOT until 06-2012.

The thing that troubles me about this car is that it is available for £6,300. It is from a dealer. This seems too cheap. According to this, it should be setting me back a little over £8,100.

Could this be too good to be true? I called the dealer - it is not a category D repair job. Doesn't the fact that it is in warranty for a year or so provide a bit of peace of mind?

Should I use any paid for services to find out a bit about this car's history. If so, which ones?

Any help is very much appreciated.

That Micra has been replaced with a newer model.

My mum and dad have a Micra 1.4 Auto and for them it's a brilliant car. Easy to drive, easy to park, comfortable ride and 45mpg without trying.

    Thanks for the reply.

But, even though it has been replaced by a newer model, is that not too cheap? Like I say, the website that I linked above seems to think it should cost c.£8k.

The mechanically very similar MK2 Clio was being sold brand-new for £5995 not so long ago so the price is not surprising.

Mrs blacksta drives a nissan micra -maybe not as new like the one you are considering but i suspect the engine components are the same. Drives nice , ok on fuel, quite nippy for 1.2 engine - the only negative is that the parts are expensive. one spark plug cost 8 pounds ( 4 needed in the engine) .
    I owe £3233 @ 0%

The reason the price is so different is that unfortunately the parkers guides are quite out of date and so the trade in and private sale prices are often higher than what the reality of the market is.

Nothing wrong with the last gen micra, a far superior looking car to the new one too. Just have a quick play on autotrader and check what others that age are available for, as said already it seems reasonable enough to me

Just seems a bit too reasonable to me! Might be worht a chance though, especially as it has over a year's worth of manufacturer's wattanty left.
  • Arnold Sharks were doing brand new new-style Micras for £7998 last week with 3 years servicing when the other half got herself a Punto.

To be honest the new Micras feel pretty cheap inside compared to the competition.

i have a 05 micra, 1.2 auto. i get 42mpg so i dont know how a higher engine would get more but maybe because it doesnt have to try too hard on the motorway?

anyway, i love my car and am unhappy that nissan have changed the style of their new micra as when mine runs into the ground (hopefully not for many years yet 65k done so far), i wanted to get another one just the same

When I learnt to drive in the mid-60's, the car that always held up the traffic was a Morris Minor.

Then it was the Mini Metro.

    Nowadays it's the Nissan Micra.

Whenever you come across a queue of traffic driving slowly in a 60 zone, there's always a Micra at the front of the queue. I've overtaken Nissan Micras whilst towing my caravan.

Nissan Micra's are driven by people who know nothing about cars and don't give a damn for other drivers.:mad::mad:

If you see a Nissan Micra, get past it. If you see two women in a Micra, get past it quickly. If you see a Micra being driven by a man wearing a hat, go in the opposite direction immediately!!!

... and he has the nerve to criticise Micra drivers :rotfl:

Anyway this is nonsense. The real culprits are French MPV drivers these days. Scenics, Peugeot Partners, Berlingos and Xsara Picassos. Always, without fail driven at 35 in a 60.
